She's Flyin' Low

I still want the 300 2.8. The 200-400 is just f/4, and it's heavy and expensive. Just have to convince the wifey that I really need it....;-)

Hope whe lets me keep both cams too.

Frank
you kept both cameras? Now that is the way to go if you can't
decide....lol....just keep em both! So how long will it be before
you get the 200-400?

To catch those flying birdies with a MF lens. Wish I had a 500 AF-S though. Will probably settle for the 300 f/2.8.

Thanks for the comments.

Frank
Wow, this is quite a capture! Very Nice.

I did like your reworked image somewhat better.

I tried capturing a Heron in flight today with my 500mm (handheld),
but missed the focus somewhat.

Regards,
Tom

the 400 deal feel through I guess since he has never contacted me after several attemps. Bummer! I thought I had a great find! I will keep looking though. Do you even shoot hte D70 much? I have 2 bodies and that is nice, I was just wondering what you kept it for.....vacations, walkaabout/???
Ken

I hope to keep it for hiking and general walking around. Also, my wife has taken some nice shots with it. It would be real nice if she got a real interest.

Sorry about the 400. You still looking for a 300 2.8?

I think we may look too closely when were editing, esp when zooming way in. The duck looks great now. Do you rmeember what USM settings you used and at which stage of post? ;c) If memory serves, Ron recommends as a general USM setting in NC4, 66-6-4, with a slight additional amt when finished editing, and or downsizing. It rare I don't add just a little more when I downsize. But sometimes I don't use quite the 66 strength initially. Sometimes I take that down to 60 in NC4 ;c)

I like the one w/o NR much better too. I did my USM in PSP 8.1, not in NC41. If these mean anything to you, the settings were 0.8, 48, 4. I like doing USM right at the end too. I set the strength low, and then click the USM tool one or more times.

Thanks,

Frank

I did it 2 or 3 times. You said you wanted lot's of USM....;-)

Thanks,

Frank
That's a pretty low dose, if you ask me. I know, you don't like to
over do it, (like I do), and if you did this twice, then that's
about right. When Ron's done with ya, I predict this too will
change ;c)

To get together with Ron. Maybe then I'll get the PP thing, including the correct amount of sharpening, down right. It does help that I got a new, much better monitor last Friday. It's still an LCD, but it's much better than the old one.

Later,

Frank
than ones that have too much. Probably 50 to 1.
