MK II focus, faster, better, both?

But when it focuses, it's right on the money every time. I'll get used to it.

Is that in low light only or under all light conditions?

The reports I've seen so far from guys like Arthur Morris and some sports guys are that the AI servo is awesome on the M2 - the best Canon yet in that dept. I Hope that's true.

In my limited experience with the mk2 (1 wK) it is true. Better than 1DS and 10d is not even in the same ballpark. 10d focused plenty quick but not always accurate.

I shoot available light only and having just recieved my first Mk2, I randomly focused around the room. There's a definate pause before the AF engages with the MkII. Haven't played with it outdoors yet. With the 10D it's pretty much instantaneous. One shot mode on both the 10D and Mk2. I'll check the second body when it arrives from a different vendor to see if the characteristics are the same. Again, the pause is very brief but noticable.

macro subjects like dragonflies etc that I often shoot freehand. It doesn;t seem to want to focus on the subject but something past it. This is when I use my 300/4 and 180 macro. Seems my D-60 did better here. Still working with it and a few weeks is a little premature to judge the camera.

I did some more checking and it seems I wasn't pressing the focus button hard enough. I use the rear * button to focus and in the Mk2, it's really stiff from the seals used. Pressing harder did the trick. I'll definately need to get the thumb in shape for this bad boy. Not to mention the wrist and the arm and the back.

In daylight their is NO PAUSE.. its instant.. in dark area its pauses for about 1/3 secound..

The nikon are much quicker in low light, dont know how accurate though
