Louvre art

Hello kt:

Those are wonderful shots even though the conditions were probably far from ideal...Since I know I'll never make it to Paris, those pics are a thrill for me to see in their native state...Thanks so much for sharing...

Larry...
Just a few images taken of objects in the Louvre.

There's that Winged Victory (Nike)! I knew you saw it, and you just made my day!

Warmest regards.

You did a great job with the paintings. You didn't use a flash, right? How did you get these shots to come out so clear (no shake)?

Here are some I took this weekend in the National Gallery in Washington, DC. I didin't include the paintings with the original post because most ended up blurry...

and here's a painting that came out ok...

Thanks,
Doug

You did a pretty good job yourself Doug. I did not use flash for the paintings otherwise the colors would be washed out and a bit hard edged. There was some natural light from the sky-lights which gave the paintings a warm friendly glow.

I have pretty steady hands but taking at least two almost guarantees one will turn out alright. Also I underexpose by at least .7EV. One reason is to not oversaturate some colors and the other to get a slightly faster shutter speed. The V1 has a pretty slow lense and I'm considering moving on just because of this.
