Subject: Animals

I have been trying to photograph wildlife this past year and while being no expert I do really enjoy it, so it would be enjoyable to see your shots(and maybe learn something new). As rule 3 states 'keep subject easy', any animal be it a bird, reptile, mammal, insect or a pet(I've probably missed something out) are all eligible.

Rules

1) any picture - new, old, Minolta camera or not..... all pics are welcome but they need to be yours

2) no critiques unless you want to place them..... this is a "fun" thing

3) try to keep the subject "easy"

4) 4 days for the challenge - time of day is not important, this is very informal and can vary from challenge to challenge..... the moderator chooses the time according to their time zone & personal schedule.

5) winner to be picked by the moderator of the challenge. Please state why you chose that picture though, this will be the only "critique" required.

6) picts submitted will need to be linked to the thread in this forum.

7) no limit as to the number of entries..... 1-1000 will be fine

8) this is the MOST important rule....... lets have fun!!

Competition starts now and will close Friday May 28th 2004 at midnight (GMT). I will announce a winner as soon as possible on Saturday 29th after having chance to review all entries.

Good luck!

Just caught this guy in the backyard about 5 minutes ago:

And you mentioned insects, anyone ever get a sharp picture of a firefly (lightening bug)? I think it's impossible!

Nice Challange!

Picture One: I love the gold lighting, comes from a really poweful spot light.

Picture Two: Nothing extrodinary about this shot except this species is very rare.

Picture Three: Probably my best "posed" bat shot.

Hi Simon,

Good collection that I enjoyed seeing when you 1st posted them and now worth showing here again. I have included medium.jpg on the end of each link to show a medium sized image of each here. One of your links is wrong, but I assume it is meant to be one of the 3 I included below, so we are not missing anything.

Wrong pic. Was this one meant to be one of these 3 instead?

Cheers for posting my shots John (Pun intended)

The one with the broken link was supposed to be the almost comical looking bat sitting on a desk.

Thanks again
