I think I've decided on the Drebel, but I was wondering if I could get some help on what is the best storage card for the Drebel. I want a large capacity, and am looking for the best cards, and best brands. Also the fastest? What do you recommend.

it doesn't matter with speed on 300D. Go for storage like 1G.

Take a look at the CF database entry for the 300D at

In short, the 300D/Dreble doesn't support the write acceleration technology found in the more expensive cards and so the fastest (most expsensive) cards are only twice as fast of the slowest.

I would still go with a decently fast card because even being just twice as fast as the slowest card out there does make a noticeable difference and you'll see a huge difference if you use a card reader to transfer data from the cards to your computer.

I went with a Ritek card from mydigitaldiscount.com for my main storage. Sandisks and Lexar are better at slightly higher prices.

Here is a website that lists CF comparisons for the drebel, there is about a 2X difference in write speed between the slowest and fastest cards. This difference may or may not be important to you. I use a Transcend 1GB 40X and 2 Sandisk 512MB standard CFs with my 10D. The Transcend is about 70% faster writing images to the card and I definitely notice it. The prices on CFs has come down a lot, I suggest you get a fast card and, depending on your budget, nothing less than 512MB.

Here is a link to the manual for the drebel. You can download a copy and look at the section on file sizes, this will help you figure how large the CF should be.

I suggest you use a USB 2 card reader for your PC, this will make a significant difference (about 5-10X) in download time to the PC compared to the camera to PC cable. Even if your PC does not have a USB 2 port, the reader still makes it easier to download and they are very inexpensive.
