Wide angle lens

I've had my Olympus C2020 for about 2 weeks now and it's a great camera. At the time I ordered the camera, I also ordered an extension tube(seems to be a 41-46) and a wide angle lens(Raynox 0.65x). I used the wide angle lens for the first time tonight to take some interior pics of a motor home for my web site and the lens blocks part of the flash so the lower left corner of the pic is dark. In natural light w/out the the flash, I'm sure this would not be a problem. But I shoot most of my interior shots at night because day light coming through the windows over powers the flash. Will this occur with all wide angle converters(block the flash) or is it just the one I bought. Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

Thanks Gary

I have the Olympus CLA-1 conversion lens adapter & Olympus WCON-08 wide angle converter lens, and it has the same problem.

I think you'll find that it's the nature of wide-angle converters for digital cameras & video cameras to be so chunky - you should see the 0.2x fisheye for the coolpix!!

BTW, let us know how your conversion lens is going - I wasn't game to get wider a non-olympus lens just yet.

I have a suggestion. Your WA lens with 46mm mount is not the lense for your application. Most lenses of this size will obstruct. You would be happier with a lens with a 37mm mount designed for Sony 8mm camcorders. The KCW-042 Kenko is such a lens, and there are many others. View this lens at:

Alternately, you could use an external flash.....Barry

Carl,

have you tried the panorama functions and "stitching" software? Pretty neat. I've only tried one, but with 5 pictures, created an 180 degree of a room. It does result in a short, very wide picture, but it was very realistic.

Even the cla1 tube plus filter (no lens) partly blocks the flash at the wide angle setting.

The only real solution is to use an external flash.
