Bee Happy

beautiful photos! how close were you from the subject? which setting was used? any special lens? i have just begun to experiment with macro shots. i am having lots of fun (fz10 and mcon40) is there a way of getting close-up shots without having the camera so close to the subject? i frighten the insects away!!! especially butterflies... and i do not want to get on the bee´s bad side........

Good job. Looked like you've gained admittance to the BEE club with just in camera macro (I assumed as the image looked like been cropped from the original resolution ).

Hello Callas (and others in Panasonic Forum),

Thank you for the kind words about my bees! No special lens used on the bugs. Just the plain ol' FZ10 set in P (program) mode with the ISO set to "auto." After that, I cropped the image to feature where the bee was perched. No other processing.

As for being up close and personal (yep, I was close and at full wide angle), I would not venture to photograph wasps this way, but bees are generally too involved with what they're doing to become bothered by something as harmless as an FZ10.

I like to use the big LCD display for composing macro shots because I can see extreme close-up items better that way and it gives me a more comfortable stretch of distance from the subject while keeping the camera close). But in pretty much all other situations I use the EVF.
Thank you again for the nice comments.
Friendly Regards,
B. Char

ok after seeing all these great bee pics I have to share mine... taken with my Kodak DC4800 back in 2001, does this allow me to be a member? even though it was not taken with a Panasonic?

Beautiful shot, Jeff.

I do like Kodak cameras and almost bought the 6490 before I was lured astray by the FZ10.
