My name is Mike and I am a Tree-Kill-Aholic. I was given an ultimatum, either I start cleaning up the leaves and droppings out of the pool or I kill it. It blocked the sunlight too, but I still loved that tree. My choices were obvious; I was not ready to start cleaning up after it so it had to go.

Please don’t flame me, as I am not totally responsible for the tree’s demise.

I guess you did it in PS only, Mike - otherwise you are a killer! :)

"HI MIKE!" - How many days since you've killed a tree?

Hmmm, can't see a stump... did you grind or pull? I have a couple that need to come out this summer. I see even w/o the tree you still don't wield the net. ;-)

OK, so you killed the tree - I can dig that, but what has the sky did to you? Put it back!!

Since you removed the tree, the sky has been blown out in all my 300D pictures too. Hmm. I think we need a firmware hack to enable the "tree exposure compensation" again...

I was forced into it, I am not a tree-killer by nature!

I had a tree service come in and kill it for me and it came down yesterday.
Here is the stump and some of the remains:

i know what you mean. i'm on six acres, and my pool is surrounded by trees. it's a love/hate thing i have going on. right now, in the spring, the pool gets covered with helicopters from the maples, pods from the birches, and arils from all the other trees. in the fall i just close it before the leaves fall ;-)

i have one giant oak tree, you can see his trunk in this shot, that half of me wants to cut down and the other half says "don't be an idiot" ;-)

I wanted the tree, my wife didn't and she cleans the pool!

Oh, if I showed her your picture she probably would have told me to have you come over and clean our pool then.

I really liked that tree, it was one of the largest ones around.

Mike

becuase come july and august, it's really quite lovely around my pool, lots of shady areas to duck into if you want to be out of the direct sun ;-)

I hope the therapy sesssions go well. Nice images, and cleaning the pool equates to less camera/post-processing time, so the sad decision was a given.

From my own experience, mental damage can be minimised if you mulch up all the debris and spread it round, generating wonderful aromas and knowledge that the carbon and other elements will be recycled whilst you're out taking pictures.

Thanks for sharing, a problem shared just makes more people miserable!.

I'm not a tree huger, but I like trees better than swimming pools...

It's not about the equipment, but even the best photographer can't make a white wall interesting with a pinhole camera.

Like the title says, I don't have a pool but I have a tree. It's a horse chestnut - in the spring it drops sticky flower casings, then flower petals. In the fall it drops chestnuts which become new trees and of course lots of leaves.

. . . . but it's so beautiful and adds so much shade to our house. (house roof is just visible in the lower left of the photo.

I had a tree in my front yard that was the biggest, oldest one in the neighborhood. Beautiful tree. Several years ago, it started rotting at the base, and since the tree grew in three seperate sections, I knew one or more of them was going to sooner or later fall, and would do a lot of damage, so I had the tree removed. It took a bucket truck and 3 men, 3 days to remove everything. I loved the tree, but it had to go. I know how you feel about your tree, but if its gotta go, its gotta go.

Our's will die a quick death this Friday at the hands of 6 trained men ! I planted 6, $1.50, 12 " tall, juniper tams, 17 years ago. They are now 3, and 50+ ft. tall. 2 are leaning badly. So friday is there last day in our yard. They will warm our house in the winter though...

The grass did not grow under them for a year now. so having a green yard again will be nice. The bad part is the sun will shine on the whole house now, higher elec. bill for the air conditioner in the summer. What summer we have here in Seattle ! I lost my sky just leaking the info to the neighbors that the tress will die.....
