PRO 70 Standby Question

Hello.

When the camera is left un-used for a short period of time it turns it self off. When you press the shutter button it turns itslef back on. While it is in standby is it consuming any power. Can I leave it in this mode when Im not using it fro long periods of time.

Apparently it goes completely off...I am not sure but I have left mine on for as much as two weeks with plenty of battery reserve still available..****
