I thought this should be posted under Nikon SLR Lens. Yesterday I took my new D70 with my Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6D ED AF and put a +2 macro front lens (Telesar) on it. Wow, what fun I had!! When I had attended the Nikon School, they mentioned that the 70-300D with a front macro lens was pretty good. This was my first try at a natural park across the street. I took them all around 4:00 pm. I did slightly sharpen them in photoShop, but what a blast. This was also my first try at PhotoShop.

I got the Telesar macro lenses +1, +2, +4 in a nice case for about $10.00 at a camera show for used equipment. They are made in Japan and seem nice. I bought them about ten years ago and have only used them one time before yesterday. I am thrilled to have them now. I was so happy that they fit the 70-300D lens spoken about at the School. :-)

closest is 5 feet. How much of an improvement was there on that?

--Your pictures are outstanding. I

have that lense and now must have the front macro lenses..but I looked in B&H and couldn't find anything that sounded the same...do you have a clue where we could get them and what they're called. you got yours ten years ago ... I'd be interested in knowing anything about what's in stores now that would be the same.
Thanks,

GeeJay

Dear GeeJay,

Thank you for looking at my pictures. These fit just like a filter but magnify. I got the three Telesar macro lenses +1, +2, +4 in a nice case for about $10.00 at a camera show for used equipment. They are made in Japan and seem nice. I looked all over them for any model number. They do not have one. There are 3 lenses (look like filters) in a round hard leather-like case with velvet dividers and each lens (filter looking) has Telesar 62mm +1 or +2 or +4 Japan on them.

Nikon calls them attachment lenses and has 62mm close-up lenses No. 5T (1.5) and No. 6T (3.0). I just think that there are cheaper close-up filters/ attachment lenses/ close-up lenses out there. I hope this helps.

PS- Nikon attachment lenses (Close-up lenses) are on page 112 of the new catalog.

--Hi ML,

I found them on eBay and did my very first purchase..I knew I'd have to figure out eBay soon so did it for the closeup lenses.... Your pictures are super and know you had fun shooting them.
Best and thanks,
GeeJay

Dear GeeJay,

I am so happy that you found the close-up lenses. I did indeed have fun shooting with them. I hope you have as much fun! :-)

--Hi ML,

I got them on eBay and also registered for PayPal..Now they say I have to put in the Expanded Use Number which comes on my credit card statement.......that will take weeks so this is still up in the air about when I'll get the closeup lenses. Does anyone know about the Expanded Use (four digit) nmber?

The lenses looked like the ones you described..velvet case and four lenses (maybe 3 but think 4) .. I think eBay is for patient people! :-)

GeeJay

Dear GeeJay,

I do not know what expanded use is but sometimes people ask for the verification number on the back of your credit card to know that you have the actual card and are not using someone elses number. My verification number is in the signature line on the back. It is the last numbers after either all or part of your credit card number on the front.

My case to the lenses is a hard (leather like) case with stiff velvet dividers.

I hope this helps.

You're looking for what are called "macro lenses" or "diopter adjustment lenses." You'll find it all there. They have good prices, too. I've ordered some things through them.

Dear Gabriel,

Thank you for reminding me of the Filter Connection (www.2filter.com). I too have ordered through them. They should be one place to check into because they have a large invintory of filters.
