You can shoot at longer range with the 6T, here's a folded lily with f= 2X:

The "serious" macro at full zoom. Just a worker bee at work:

Awesome what the 6T can do! Love the pix. I'll be joining the 6T crew soon, after the trip south is paid for. 8-)

Nice shots John, Bravo !

Would you be surprised if I said that this is what I'd call "real life macro". :o)

Thanks! You know, Louise, this little rig is pretty cheap! I bought the total for about $65 shipped. I was thinking, being the owner of a Nikon CoolPix 4500, which is a pretty good macro machine itself, that this "long zoom" macro approach offers a distinct advantage: You don't have to be 1/2 inch from the bee! (more like a foot?) Personally, I prefer a little separation. I think I may do a little comparison work between the two when I get a chance.

Thank you David! Real life? Well, it is that, I suppose. That bee was just doing his work, nothing staged about that.

Buzz off, big fella! ;-) Thanks for the tip, though. I'm forever indebted.

Thanks Ed, I liked that too, the way the background colors came out was interesting.

Fun, huh! Great shots, John. I love seeing the little specks of pollen--makes me sneeze.

Hey Jimmie. There are no "dumb questions" here. A "6T" is a Nikon 6T magnifier lens, supposedly good for +3 diopters, I think. Its filter threads are 62mm in diameter, so an adapter of some kind is also needed. The lens sells for about $50 on-line. With my FZ1v2, I've used it in two modes: Macro, with the FZ zoom set to 2X, where I can get almost within touching distance of the subject; and telephoto, FZ zoom set to 12X, where the focusing distance is in a narrow range about 10" - 12" from the lens. Of my three shots shown here, the first was done in the Macro mode, the other two at full telephoto.

Hi John.

I really like the lighting on the first (as always) and a very nice study of a worker bee.
You are definitely working towards 'uber' status.

John, it's'really very good macro lens! i have FZ-1v2 with standard Panasonic adapter. what is a model of stepdown rings can i use with Nikon 6T? (all of 62 to 55 mm stepdown rings or only some models ?)

The one I have is made by Bower, which was substituted in my order for a Pemeraal adapter which was out of stock. I really don't think the adapter is a critically dimensioned thing; it seems to me that any 62-> 55 adapter would work fine. The Bower adapter has plenty of threads to grab the Panasonic plastic adapter; I use it with my Yoshida 155S adapter.
