What's your best portrait taken with the 300D (Rebel) and Kit Lens?

Here is mine although I am very, very sure there will be many examples to put this to shame. (Wish I'd had a longer lens when wandering around Tokyo when this was shot).

The one thing that impresses me about the kit lens - for the price - is flexibility. Wide angle / reasonable close-ups and credible portraits.

Thanks

Marcus

So the real question is... was she cosplaying a southen belle or was she a typical lolita goth cosplayer?

I can't honestly tell from that getup.

Well my verdict was that she was the latter - a goth Harajuku cosplayer. I have seen her a year earlier on another trip (she is easy to spot because of the eye colour) and she was done up in kimono with lots of make up.

Fascinating characters in Harajuku.

This is a pic of my daughter on Easter. It's the most recent shot that I truly love. Let me know what you think. This is straight from the camera. The only thing to correct, I think, is that her eye is a tad too dark. Will also probably apply some sharpening.

It is a characterful portrait - and I like the unusual angle.

I'm not sure it needs a lot of sharpening, but IMHO would benefit from a bit of work on levels as it is a little flat (at least on this laptop screen).

Thanks for sharing

...to get 70 plus replies to a thread? Change your name to Daniella? Maybe I'm just cr*p

:)

I had only a lens and a battery charger with the D Reb kit. Should I aks B&H for refund because my kit was not complete?

Well... if you could have gotten the goth girl to fly, and taken a good, sharp picture of her in the air with a 70-200mm 2.8 lens... well... MAYBE it would be different... but NO... all she does is SIT there.

;)

Okay... not sure if this counts, since it was photpshopped to greyscale it, but this is MY favourite kit lens portrait.
