10 D no longer at Amazon.de ???

Hi all,

I am no big fan of rumors, and I have been reading the posts about the discontinuing of the 10 d with some amusement...

Today I did a price check on the 10 d here in Germany and to my surprise, Amazon.de does not carry it on their own market place any more (as of today). Only external firms show the 10 d on the Amazon site...

I wrote an email to Amazon.de and asked for the reason. I'll keep you posted if they answer.

I hope they start carriing it again, soon. They had the best price including shipping :-) € 1.399,-

I just received the reply from the Amazon.de rep. He does not know if the 10 D will be back in stock at all...

That is a pretty weak answer for a professional shop like Amazon.de. So I replied one more time to him to ask his purchasing department, if they plan on ordering more 10 D's or not.

Lets see what comes out...

It,s funny you should say that I was told they were short supply at Dixons in the Trafford centre Manchester UK they looked on there computer and had none close to me he did not know what the total UK stock situation was.(I know it's not sold in every branch)

I wanted to show it to the Mrs because, I am in New York at the end of the month picking some equipment up (Now she understands why it is cheaper to fly to the USA and buy there) they had the 28-135IS on show and it was £120 more than she knows I have budgeted for in the US.

Point two on the B&H Photo website there is a small box that says click for a better price than $1499 no answer yet. I am sure it was not there last week.

The email will say $1450. Not a very good price for the US. Even Canoga has it for $1399.

The supply in the Uk has been discussed before. Even in London they are really hard to get. I got mine last week from digital first. These are European imports, I checked the serial number with canon and they say the warranty is covered in the Uk and digitalfirst give a 2 year warranty as well.

Anyway, everyone I have spoken to says the 10d is very popular and canon cannot keep up with the orders. I spoke to the manager of Jessops New Oxford Street a couple of weeks back. He said he was convinced at one point that the 10d was being discontinued for the next model, but he had spoken to canon on the issue and they denied it, blaming demand for the shortage.

So who knows.

Even at $1450 that saves me enough over the UK price of a 10d to fly 3500 miles spend a night in a hotel have a trip around NYC and fly back home after I pick up my two lenses and extra bits of kit I will save a futher $646 unless customs catch me going home.

Thanks for the note Jason I have not had my reply yet from the email.
