Hi everyone,
I bought an F700 a couple of months ago and was using windows98 on my

Pc, everthing was working okay. Now I have bought a new pc with Xp on it, I keep getting an i/o error reguarly when I try to transfer my pictures to the Pc. I have uninstalled Finepix and reinstalled it, but still keep getting this problem. Has any one else experienced this and do you know how I can solve it. Thanks in advance.

The only thing I would sugest is that you download the latest finepix software from the Fuji site and try again.

I am so smart, I am so smart, s-m-r-t....I mean s-m-A-r-t.

Thanks Reedy but I tried doing that just incase there was a newer version.
It's proving very frustrating.

Does the WinXP computer "see" the camera as a removable drive & if so can you copy and paste the files to a hard drive location?

Using both Win98se and Win2000Pro I never use Finepix Viewer I jsut transfer them as above.

HTH : )

PS What is the error message if any that you getting?

Yes the machine sees it. But when I click on it in explorer I get the following message.
L:\ is not accessible.
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

So the "drive" is seen in windows explorer.

OK, have you tried this & sorry in advance if I state the obvious.

Format the card in the camera (I have always understood this to be best with all makes) and then try again.

Assuming the drive is now accessible do bear in mind the following:-

Unlike Win98se where you simply, in my case using the cradle turn the power off. Under W2K and I believe XP you must "Eject" the disk before powering off ~ page 87 of the manual.

PS Not using WinXP I wonder whether you need the USB drivers (more to date than on the CD?) here http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/technical/folder.pl?id=195

PPS Are you trying via a USB hub? If so, have a go connecting the camera/cradle directly into the motherboard USB port.

Thanks for trying to help. I'm unable to access the drive at all at the moment, continually getting this error each time. I've found out that there is an adapter for xd cards which allows them to be read in the CompactFlash slot on my machine. I think I'll give that a try as I know that slot is working.
Thanks again

Hi guys,

I bought a Dazzle xd card reader today which has enabled me to access my cards now. As the camera seems to be working ok and the cards our readable through the new reader, I've come to the conclusion that the usb lead for the camera must be faulty. When I get the chance I will replace it. Thanks again all who tried to assist me solving the problem.
Cheers Dave
