Hi,
I have a strange story.
I got a used camera on Ebay. The guy that sold it to me sad that it had an Error 99 and was on the warranty, but he did not have time to fix it.
So I sad to my self for that price! I can have it fixed.
So I go the camera with the lens and surely enough, focusing in the low light it was giving me the error 99 every 3ed time.
Than I got home and downloaded the firmware from Canon reloaded the camera, wiped all the contacts on the body, and 1500 images after that, have not see one of this errors.
I am a programmer my self and I know how the setup can go wrong one to many ways, so reloading the software usually helps to solve most problems, especially if your error 99 is not a consistent problem and dose not happen every time you push a button.
So there you go, If you get an ERROR 99 try to reload software on the camera, before you send you bellowed piece of plastic to Canon and let them hold it for 7-10 days.
Thanks.
