but you need to have a small business account --> you will have to pay the tax. I was quoted for $3900 + 8.25% tax and free shipping. I turned the deal down because of the tax even though it's an excellent deal for the moment.

I sent Josh an email. He then forwarded it to one of his co-workers. His co-worker then sent me an email with Dell's 800 number and his direct extension. I spoke to the guy. But I decided not to pursue because of the high sale tax in CA.

...free overnight, and, most interesting thing of all, expected shipment on or before May 12th (even though INGRAM Micro expects to be able to ship on May 15th, and direct-Canon's manager for Dell has said end of May)...

Heck, who knows exactly, but... All I know is that my order already appears in Dell's web-based Order Status report, and shows "In Production", with above shipping estimate.

Unlesss your livelihood is dependent on immediately owning the 1dmk2, what's a few days? ...+$600 savings is great compensation, even if you have to suffer with a 10d (ha ha).

15th-May20th, and, based on their back-orders, they will have
something like 15-18 units not allocated to any specific order.
8. Shipment of the actual camera (to me) was offered between
May20th-25th (2nd day for $15).
9. Therefore, what needs to happen is:
  • I must place my order now.
  • Dell will place their order to Ingram Micro
  • I may get my camera on May 25th.
  • Camera price was $3990+shipment+FL tax.

outsourcing. And so long as they are outsourcing why do people
from other countries like India have to use an American name? What
is the deal with that? I can't pronounce a name other than "dave"
"bob" or "josh". I like when I'm doing buisness with someone for
them to tell me their name not their stage name. It makes me feel
all warm and fuzzy.

many people with difficult for americans to pronounce names use easy for americans shorts or nicknames when dealing with americans. they get tired of the real name being butchered and like to make it easier for someone who has a hard time with it

Thanks to Ferenc I called the same salesperson and got the same deal. I am now on 4 lists - we shall see who gets it here first. She re-confirmed that she had heard two dates (one mid May and one at the end). She said to have people call her if interested. I can email you the details - please let me know. Total cost with free shipping was 4123.

I got the same quote $4380 but odered it anyway. It was last week. I called back and talked to superviser to see why everyone else was getting it for 4100 and was told they are not suppose to give the 10% discount on this camera and that those orders may be canceled. She did give me the option of canceling my order and trying with the lower price and going back to the end of the line which she said could be 5 weeks or more, so I kept my order and should get it next week.

I got the same quote $4380 but odered it anyway. It was last week.

They were anxious and gracious to take my order and agreed i could cancel at any time but i have sent two emails and called and i still cannot get verification that the the order was cancelled. I got my camera elsewhere. i am not convinced they are going to be availalbe anytime soon

I would think they would do the right thing and honor there orders but I'm just repeating what I was told. Maybe they just did not want me to cancel my order which was on a small business account.

Update- Dell just called to tell me they could not ship before June 18 and asked if I would like to cancel my order.
