Who has an opinion is that worth to wait till Sony 75 will come out
on a market? Or just go and buy Canon G1? Price also is
considerable for me.

I am not sure what you mean buy that sentence. You like memory stick??What I really like in the 75 - movie capabilities + price –
memory stick
Whoa!!! Seriously? How much are the two of them in Canada? In Canada the G1 is less expensive than an s70.
Price is a big incentive.get the s75 if it produces obviously superior images to the G1.
Otherwise the G1 wins on features/price etc...
You can get the S70 for about $1400-$1500 CNDWhoa!!! Seriously? How much are the two of them in Canada? In Canada the G1 is less expensive than an s70.

The two cameras stack up against each other quite well in most
respects. I know you've mentioned in other threads the features you
like for the G1 versus the S75, but could you mention them for the
purpose of this thread again?
Will the images be "obviously superior" in either camera over the
other one? I doubt it. Both of these cameras are pushing their own
respective envelopes as it concerns the 3 Mp CCD. Some cameras
excel with noise reduction (Canon G1), others with color
reproduction (Fuji 4700z), others with good focus (Sony S70). So it
will probably come down to price and features in the end.

I haven't looked a lot but G1 is $1279, the S70 is still $1399. Someone else mentioned better prices, but the differential was further in favor of Canon.Whoa!!! Seriously? How much are the two of them in Canada?
For me the #1 "feature" is compact flash 2 with microdrive compatability. For me to move to sonys proprietary format, the camera would have to be exceptional. #2:Writing raw format and post manipulation of white balance or anything else. #3: nifty remote control. #4: noise reduction on long exposures. #5 flip display. It seems to have everything the s75 will plus these extras and currently a lower price as well. The two cameras stack up against each other quite well in most

What is of primary importance to me is focus/sharpness. So I was on the fence about the S70 as the one camera that would have me consider memory stick. Then the s75 was announced and I thought it is much closer, but unless I see proof that it has the snap of the S70 there is no point buying a Sony G1 IMO, When the canon version has more features and is cheaper. Nothing yet demonstrates that the s75 is inheriting the sharpness of the s70. I think they went with cheaper/inferior coatings on the s75 lens to meet a marketing price point. Will the images be "obviously superior" in either camera over the

Thanks for going to the trouble of outlining those again. Seems like you've given a lot of good thought to prioritizing your needs. Considering the money involved, we owe it to ourselves to look at what the camera does relative to what our expectations are.For me the #1 "feature" is compact flash 2 with microdrive

Not that my word counts for anything, but I can assure you that they did not do this.cheaper/inferior coatings on the s75 lens to meet a marketing price

Yes, I don't like a memory stick. And I would like to use IBM
microdrive. My major concern with G1 is a Purple Fringing and
price. Here we have G1 for ~ 900$ and DSC 75 ~ 700$. So. Plus if
you consider to by an external flash plus additional lenses with
canon you will get around with 200 extra spending
Having just read Phil's review, it is an easy choice - read the
Canon forum about the G1 quality control, picture colour and micro
drive problems, and presto! A larger 128 memory stick is touted
for later this year.
Just my opinion, of course

I finally went with the G1 last week instead of waiting for the S75
and I've been thrilled with everything, have no quality problems,
and love my microdrive. Incidentally, I haven't seen any complains
about the second generation microdrives, and the cost per mb can't
be beat. I paid $290 for a 512mb microdrive with an external USB
reader.
Anyway, the S75 looks awesome and with the price difference I might
have gone with it if it were out today. I'm just saying don't give
a few posts more credence than they merit.

Reading forums is an inaccurate indicator of anything, however. The
people who have problems post most. It's much like a motherboard
forum I read frequently where there are dozens and dozens of posts
about problems with certain boards (Abit Kt7 in the case I'm
talking about), but a survey put up showed that about 97% of the
users actually didn't have any problems.

Well its lots easier to correct WB in photoshop than it is to correct poor forcus or a low res lens. Then again I would prefer to not have to do anything to the images.Good.What is of primary importance to me is focus/sharpness.
For others, the imaging process will be a composite of other
factors such as color, WB, and general user control, as well as
features.

I doubt that you'll need to worry about focus problems with the S75
either.
Looks like you're bound for G1-Town.
Actually that was a typo, I meant G1 or S75. After Phils review I
am mostly convinced the its the same lens as the s70 (but where did
all the CA come from).
