Mike Finn has some of these actions, I don't have time to look for examples right now thought I have some so if you get into his site you'll find them.

Rockwell 2; ran it 3 times @ 260, then saved it to 96 dpi and ran it again, finally made a real diff, think I read that somewhere, know I now it and it's much faster too. Did adjustments layers too, then flatten and save for web.

Thanks MF

How about here? Its Sheri's Sketch using Kent's Mix Variation.

I had tried Sheri's Sketch and with some tweaking it is very close but not really the same. Perhaps it was used but I haven't been able to reproduce a Rockwell yet. I had emailed vikki last night but haven't gotten a response yet. I'm pretty sure she is the one that posted the pictures now that I see the one on lifetimephoto. Keep sending examples though...they are all great.
No...that looks like a popart filter. It was similar to this. click Photo to Art and it is the 9th one of the woman and little girl.

--I know exactly what you are looking for. This action was discussed at length on another forum as a work in progress but I never heard that it was completed. I looked w.o success about a year ago.

If you notice the mother/daughter(?) at http://www.lifetimephoto.com Photo to Art/ 9th picture... the remake is VERY clean...unlike other actions. There is no texture or added posterization or sketching effects. It is also unlike any of the other examples of people in that section. Perhaps it has been colorized.

These actions are turning a photo into what looks like a painting vs. what I'm after....a painter that makes a painting look photorealistic. Vikki did an excellent job. I'm close to what I want using this tutorial and then tweaking it a bit more. Used MatchColor, hue/saturation, levels too.

that link you gave does have another version of what Rockwell does. I might use it but it is more of a cartoon painting than what I am after. Perhaps merging the two and playing with the opacity will work. Thanks

Mike had a 'rockwell' action at one time but abandoned (or backburnered) it. It no longer shows up on his action page, but you might email him for it.

My modified rockwell:

Sheri's action, imo, came the closest subsequently, but Vikki had a picture quite a while back that was quite good.

The picture no longer exists on retouchPro, but I d/led it - Vikki's picture:

Regarding the "Rockwell" action.

I oirginally developed that action when I belonged to a Community Zero site, and that is possibly what someone is recalling. Here is the original photo that was posted with the action. This was also discussed previously here (where I posted the steps). I located what I believe is my original text instructions for this. I will post a link to that file later this evening.

The image of the woman and child, is a different process. I found my notes on that, and it is partially hand colored before the action is run. I'm going over the steps (just recorded notes, not the action) for that technique now. It really doesn't achieve quite the same effect unless the hand coloring is done, so if anyone wants that one, let me know and I'll post it.
