I was one of those who placed my order last Friday for the 1D II with B&H but was notified later that day that they no longer had stock of the camera. Just checked my order status and B&H had shipped my camera and will be here tomorrow !! Wow ! Either B&H had received another shipment or somebody had cancelled OR I am getting a returned...... Hopefully not the last possibility..... We will know tomorrow. But looks like B&H has come through for me !!

It means they got more and other people will be getting them too.

I was gone Friday and didn't see the posts about the good fortune at B&H until Sunday night. I decided to call and place an order Monday morning and just be patient. When asked how long the wait was, I was told I'd get it in a week. I have ordered a great deal of equipment from B&H and they have always been great and upfront with me. I was skeptical but satisfied that my order was placed. Well.....as promised....it was shipped yesterday!!! I'm assuming that they got another shipment in. I love B&H!!!!!

Ordered mine Friday too, and UPS delivered a nice big box today.

Pictures to follow!

UPS delivered 3 boxes from B&H and one was my camera! The others had new lenses to go with the new toy! I'm overwhelmed! Now I can play! (Got mine during the B&H buying frenzy last Friday).

I have to say that's amazing. B&H is pulling out all of the stops.

I ordered mine through Adorama on 3/22, and probably will not get mine until mid-May. (I'm a pessimist when it comes to this stuff.)

It just seems strange that B&H got soooo many, and Adorama only got the first initial shipment.

Are they that much different in size and clout?

As for physical size of store, no comparison. Inventory on hand -- who knows. If I had to bet I would say it is also no comparison. Certainly B&H again dwarfs when it comes to number of toys on display. Their used section alone looks about 1/4 size of Adorama's whole store. And I saw a ton of used MKIIs! (I'm joking, of course). As for clout I can only speculate but would guess that due to their volume they have unusual clout. Anyway, your interest is Adorama who informs they expect another shipment shortly (meaning this week or Monday). Have no idea if they are good in this regard as I've not dealt with them with backorders. I would think if they are being straight you should have a camera going out to you next week. Please post when it happens. I'm curious. Very impressed so far with B&H but they have a very good rep.

I was in on the great run of April 23rd too and likewise received the later email saying that it was out of stock. This past weekend, I called and they said it would be a couple weeks. Tuesday, to my utter surprise, I received an email saying the order had shipped! It's out on delivery as I type this.

What this tells me is that their attitude of grateful service to paying customers is engrained enough to make it right with those who ordered something supposedly in stock only to have to notify them that it was actually out-of- stock. Did they use their considerable leverage with Canon to get quite a few more shipped to them on Monday by explaining their awkward position? I don't know what else to conclude.

Personally, I was glad to have had been so close to getting one last weekend and was more than willing to be patient and wait a few weeks. I know one thing: if in the future, the price is the same or even close on B&H's site compared to a competitor, and it almost always is, they have earned a loyal customer in me.

Interesting... appears they will fill phone orders over those who requested to be notified via e-mail weeks ago. So, if you really want something from B&H, call rather than be on the waiting list to get an e-mail when something is available!

I have ordered from B&H for 20 years now and never had a problem. I agree, they are very up front. They never said that if you sign up by e-mail they will not give preferential treatment to those who call, credit card in hand!

For now, I am going to use my 1D, save some computer hard disk space for a while longer, and wait until Canon has fixed their rotation gadgets. Maybe by then I will get my notification from B&H.

Even when all the orders were filled and the camera was openly available on the website for a few hours on Friday, they never sent out an e-mail that it was available (at least not to me).

My guess is that they run the notification program some number (may be one???) of times a day and since the 1D2 went out the door so quickly, the program never did have a chance to do anything.

--B&H is the Largest reseller of canon equipment . The sell more canon gear than anybody . The store takes up half a city block. it is a photographers dream crusing through the store. They are probably also the largest reseller of all gear. They do a incredible amount of business and have for years. Main reason for this is because they deliver and they have huge stock on hand. I was talking to a salesman one day in the store. We were chatting and he said they have 7 pallets on hand of just the 70-200 zoom . Go ahead go back and read that number again. Can you imagine . It is no surprise to me they have 1dMKII on a needed basis. I got mine there also and also many many others , there is not one store in the country that has even come close to having this many MKII delevered

Never doubted for a minute that it was going to be a brand new one. Ignore the yahoo on the B&H return thread.

I also unfortunately missed the brief B&H Friday window. I called B&H to order on Wednesday morning, figuring that Canon was now starting to ship, B&H had filled their whole waiting list, and would be getting regular shipments.

I was told the wait is now 4 to 8 weeks. I ordered the camera anyway.

And no, it didn't magically arrive today. I suspect I will wait at least 4 weeks. But that's OK, I'll wait. But I guess that they built up a 1-2 month backlog of orders between Friday and Wednesday. That's pretty heavy-duty.

Hoo Yah. 7 pallets. Would hate for one of those
to fall off a truck, in more ways than one.

It is odd that B&H is more price competitive now than, say,
10 years ago in the days of 47th St. Maybe it's because
B&H is catering less exclusively to just the pro and semi pro
market nowadays.

I posted earlier that although I only preordered mid last week,
I did check this week and was told quite definitely at Adorama,
"You'll have it next week." I wasn't told directly but from a
couple of other questions I asked, I got the impression they'd
be processing orders tomorrow or this weekend rather than late
next week.

I don't think there's going to be a serious supply problem of
Mk IIs. I'm not desperate for mine but it'll be nice if it shows
up sooner rather than later.

I could be wrong, but, whatever.

I am pleased to see that the Mk II seems to be such an excellent
all around camera.
