10D MKII

If that camera really has ƒ}ƒ‹ƒ{ƒƒƒ“ƒ\[ƒ‹ƒ‰ƒCƒgƒ{ƒbƒNƒX you can
bet I'm going to buy one.
Sorry Harold, no Unicode in the DPReview pages :)

but you can use babelfish.altavista.com to translate the thread, it's actually pretty funny :)
umm, try 820 ten-thousands, this is Japanese for 8.2 megapixel. an unsurprising figure. Finally something worth upgrading my D30 to, if I only had the cash :-)

I'm not moved by rumors, and I try not to droll on (or about) equipment. Maybe lenses, but bodies? gimme a break.

Sorry, but it sounds like downgrade. 8mpix in 1.6 sensor means only one - more noise!

Yes "Canon can" reduce it by applying in-camera noise ninja, but it smells bad :(

I wish I had a nickel for every rumor out there.

Canon won't release this information to anyone until they have a firm release date. There's so much to do before they can say anything. The Securities & Exchange Commission has rules on PR. They control leaks, they have non-disclosure agreements with advertisers, subcontractors, suppliers, etc.

I love it when someone comes up with the, "Ritz says that the 10D is discontinued." Or "Best Buy doesn't have the 10D anymore."

I've not seen either one of those posts in the past few days...

By making the non-sensing (e.g., the transistors) smaller the actual light gathering surface area doesn't have to be smaller. Plus improvments in EM noise shielding, not to mention better micro-lenses......

At 22.5x15mm the (alleged 8mp) sensor would still be signifciantly bigger than the 8.8x6.6mm sensors used in the 8mp prosumer digicams so we shouldn't expect that level of noise (if this is true).

Personally I was hoping they'd bump it up to 1.5 crop factor (or less).

That's great, I just got mine 10D after a month or so reading rumors. If I would have listened to all the rumors I wouldn't be enjoying this bitc*hin camera now. Why wait as too many others have said " GET IT NOW and SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT.

My measley 2 cents.

But the SEC has exactly nothing to do with the thread under discussion. This seems like a Japanese side leak - and is not unusual where such a high percentage of the population is techno-geek/camera mad.

Nods and winks are still very much the norm. operating environment in much of Asia, and whilst that might not appeal to Western ideals of fair business, it is often the way things are done.

Now it maybe just Fred Tanaka winding up George Shmizu and Harry Nagai calling the bloke an idiot - my Japanese isn't up to following their thread for sure.

It's always funny to see these threads and all the people who seem to think that the 10D they have today will no longer work once it comes out. The 10D will do everything it does today forever with the proper care and service. It's just a tool which you should already have a good understanding of giving you the ability to take wonderful pictures for a long time to come.

I have more of a desire to add more and better glass before I really care to have the latest, greatest body. The rumored features I have read around a 10D replacement have yet to excite me enough to change my plan.

An updated 10D body is not designed for 10d owners.. there are plenty of other buyers out there.

Is there anybody who speaks Japanese? Is it just another rumour on a Japanese forum or is it from a reliable source? That's the question...

I've been observing the digital camera market over the last few years and to me it seems unlikely that Canon would release a 10DmkII at the end of June...it's rather likely they will come out with it at Photokina in September...but who knows, maybe the Nikon D70 gave them a little shock :-)
