hope you dont mind me sharing. This nest is inside a topiary on the walkway of my house. The mockingbirds have been building the nest for a month. Finally the babies hatched. Need my wife to help me next time to move the leaves out of the way. Hope you enjoy.

you have to be careful with them now. we had a robins nest with three chicks in it. as they got older and ready to fly, the father woulld come around more often. hardly saw him while the mother was feeding them. anyway i decided to rope off the nest so the gardners would not go near the nest. I got a little too close and the father swooped down on me from a tree. the chicks panicked and fluttered out of the nest. the father continued to make swooping passes at me. All of a sudden there was a congregation of birds on my roof squacking and carrying on. must of been at least 20 birds. I could not go out in my yard for about a week. really funny. this year I took down the first nest i saw. let them go somewhere else unless they pay me rent.

The parents watch me, but I dont try to touch them or the nest. Just part the bush a bit and take a few shots. They are cute, chirping away if you walk by.

Hey, Harris, those are fantastic... particularly the 2nd one! Great work, my man. Take some pics every day and document their growth.

Thats what I hope to do. I get home while its still light, the sun is low and over my back.

Thanks..guess I'm better at stationary targets vs moving ones.

Fanatstic !

If you have time and patience, just try to follow up (photographically) on their 'growing up' on a daily basis

Thanks, I am going to try to do that. The parents havent dive bombed me as I am careful not to touch the babies or the nest. So far, so good.

Thanks Jesse! Just shot 5 more today at lunch, closed the lens down to f7 I believe. Will post either tonight or tomorrow. They are so cute, they jump up thinking I'm going to feed them. The mom is ok with me, but boy did she chase a squirrel all around my property

Actually, they're teenagers now, so instead of food, is $20 bills!
