xD cards and processing in camera shop

I recently posted about a small pocket camera costing about £100, well in the end I bought an Olympus mju300 for over double that. Great little camera.

But my question is with the XD cards and taking them into the shop for processing. Before printing I would like to do a spot of photoshopping. I have always done this and then sent them off to an on-line printing service so it is no problem. However can the pictures be put back onto the xD card and then taken in to the shop, or will there be problems doing this?

I may also want to save photos on my pc until I have enough that I want printed. Also may want to put pictures on from my 720uz (smartmedia) which would have also been edited and stored on the PC..

Any advice?
Mark

Mark,

IF you have a burner, it is much easier just to put all the pics onto a CD to take into a shop - as ive seen the way the handle other people's stuff...and you dont want them damaging your card :)

Mark,

Yes, you can drag and drop the pictures from your computer back on your xd card in the camera, as long as you have not edited the image. I do this quite frequently,

Didn't know they did the prints from a CD, but see no reason why they wouldn't. But will check it out.

I will be wanting to edit the images which was my problem.
But if they are ok with a CD then my problem solved.

Thanks

At least the places I frequent take a CD. If the shop's setup is older, it may not support xD (unless you bring your own xD-> CF converter card just in case you get the blank stare if you ask the person behind the counter).

Mark,

The CD should work just fine, but if you have a reader then you could copy the editted pictures to SmartMedia, CF, or xD.

The camera may not be able to display an image once it's been editted, but the media can certainly store the image just fine.

With CF being as cheap as they are now, I usually copy my images to that if it's only one or two pictures. If it's more, then I use a CD.

If you have a card reader/writer, you can drag them back and forth, edited or not at will. Personally, I wouldn't risk my card being damaged by the average teenager employed at these places.

I either upload my pics via the internet and have them mailed or pick them them up or burn them to CD and take the CD, which is easily replaced.
