So does the D70 work with CS or not?

. . .because I can't make it work. I don't see the D70 listed on Adobe's website as one of the cameras supported (even with the update for the plugin). Is there anyone out there who knows for sure whether or not it works?
Thanks,
Christopher

From what I've read, it does not work in CS currently, but Adobe is working on an update to provide support in the near future.

If you install the software that came with the D70, a little plug in for PS will also be installed and then you will be able to use the PS browser to read NEF files. But the only thing you'll be able to do is rotate and adjust exposure.

But then again, what else do you need? Once you've got the NEF file into PS, you've got all the power in the world at your disposal. I've been doing this for weeks.

No problems with my D70, Nikon View 6.2.1, and CS - all work together beautifully. All editing options appear to be available in CS and all appear to function correctly. I say 'appear' because I don't beleive I've tested 'all' options....

One thing I found though was that I had to use a USB setting on the camera of 'Mass Storage' to have the camera recognised by Nikon View 6.2.1 - The manual instructs to use PTP for WinXP, but I found that the camera was not recognised - very strange. Switching to 'Mass Storage' fixed it.

You don't have Adobe Camera Raw. At least I don't. Not like you do when working with D100 NEFs. All you have is exposure. Hardly worthit.

as for Nikon Capture 4.1. It is slow on my 733 qs Mac. Not the fastest beast in the forest but still slow.

As others have said you do have all the adjustments you might want once you are in CS - and others have omitted the fact that the View plug-in also offers white balance adjustment - a weakness of Photoshop - so I am well satisfied for now.

Best advice I can give is: download a free 30 day trial of Nikon Capture 4.1.0

This gives you a host of correction possibilities, including a sophisticated White balance adjustment. And just hope that by the time the trial ends, Adobe has come up with the update plug-in for the D70 for PSCS.

The RAW update is being beta tested as we speak......and I know Adobe is going to get that out as soon as they can.

If you use a separate USB reader, you won't have problems like this. They're very inexpensive, even USB 2.0 readers, which will read the images much faster than directly from the camera. I think my USB 2.0 reader was something like $35.
