As many of you may know, I've been planning on getting the D70. Well I finally ordered it and it is expcected to arrive this saturday. I'm really looking forward to the DSLR, there's just so many more features. I'm really going to miss some the NTF. You guys have been almost like family, in a photography sense. Some of you have been here since I was still trying to take in-focus pictures, such as Uncle Frank, Jarrell C. ( who has since bought a D100 ), Muriel S. , Backdoctor ( who has also gotten a D100 ), and many others. I don't know where I would be now if I didn't have the NTF. I know one thing, I wouldn't be half the photographer I am now without it. I've learned so much from you guys. One thing Iam not necessarially looking forward to is going to the D70 talk, where the posts last about 1hr max on the front page. I really wanted to go into the D100/D2H talk with all my old NTF buddies. I am and will forever be greatful for all your guidence. I will be sure to make frequent visits back here and I will also make sure to make a post when I get my new camera. Thanx to all and Happy Shootin!

graced the pages of this or any forum and the pleasure has been all mine. You've always helped to set the tone of NTF and that has made it the envy of many other forums. It is true, the D70 Forum will take you a while to get used to, but you will. It took me about a month to get used to a dslr forum, so just hang in there and I'll drop by to see what you're up to!

Congratulations & good luck Ping. I'll miss see your photos so come back often, please.

I am sure that it'll do wonders in your hands. You are picking up this photography stuff so fast: it's actually a pleasure to see a young person determined to learn and actually doing it (and I don't mean to be condescending at all). As Gill said, let us know when you get the gig at National Geographic! I'll see you... over there. :-)

Ping,

Congratulations on ordering the D70. I know you will have fun with it. I've had mine for a couple of weeks now and it has been great! You are right about the NTF...it is the best!. The D70 forum is a little busy now, but I think it will stabilize over the next couple of months (hopefully). Hope to see you there!

Regards,
-Vinod

as you are probably aware, the 4500 still has some abilities
unmatched by the D70.
For instance?
You can put it in your pocket and take it anywhere.
You can preview on the LCD.

Because of its size and twist body, you can find perspectives that would be physically impossible with a dslr.

Come on over Ping, the water is fine. I suspect that things will slow down a bit in a few months over at the D70 forum. You are going to love the camera. It is a terrific tool.

Dream on, Ron. Momentum is just beginning to build for the d70, and new arrivals will be pouring into that forum for the next 6 months -lol.

Current first page time is 32 minutes on the d70 forum. It's insane, but exhilerating... a chorus of screams of joy by thrilled newbies!

Congratulations, and best of luck with your new rig, Justin. I'd just urge you to be careful not to get caught up the technology, and to emphasize composition. That balance is the defining difference between the hordes of measure-bators and the elite photographers.
