Hello!!

hello!

Next week my girlfriend and I go to Tanzania… ouuu yeaaa!! Could anyone tell me if there is a big difference between extra fine , fine or standard quality of picture, because I dont have time to test the camera. Usually I take the pictures with extra fine, but now this could be a problem because I have small CF card (512mb) and I have to spare space on that card.

P. S. :Maybe any hints for taking pictures of animals in safari?

thanx Pebo

Going on a journey with unfamiliar gear?

There's no excuse!

Hi Pebo,

the difference is not much, but if you want my suggestion get some more CF or even better a way to dowload your pictures for storage (portable HD or CD writer) .

A safari in Tanzania will not happen every other day and the memories will last foreever, while you'll forget about the few hundred dollars you spend on memory the moment you board the plane (and maybe even sooner).

Also try to get confortable with the camera as much as you can before going... it's really bad if you do not have ways to check your pictures during the vacation to come back and find that you have left the camera in ISO 800 all the time ;-)

Hi Pebo,

I just got my A2 at saturday, and I'm still learning to master the beast.

I already tried to find any differences in the compression, but even in standard there are no visible JPEG artifacts. This correlates with the experiences I have collected in the last two years with my D7. I've used STD compression nearly all the time. Prints in A4 come fine, no compression visible. According to the manuals STD pictures in the D7 are more compressed (1.1MB) as in the A2 (1.4MB for 2560x1920).

Especially if you're short in time to learn all the features, don't forget to take a printout of the PDF-manual and - the most valuable source of information - the FAQ from John down under et alt. available at http://www.pbase.com/mtf_foto_studies/mtf_faq . (Thanks to the editors, it's great!!)

Cheers

Hi Andreas,

It's normally Claudio who gets front billing for our FAx and Niamh started it all and wrote some very useful answers and comments on others, so it really was a team effort. ;o) Thanks from our team anyway for spreading the word as we have no other way of doing it except through the members of this forum (including the link in signature blocks like mine below and Claudio has done the same). We have now had over 5000 hits in just over a week and nobody has told us that the FAx are completely wrong, so we hope the information is being useful.
