Don't know what all the remotes look like but if they are sized like the ones for the G3 and G5, this is a winner. It's probably already been done, seems so obvious. The CF case that comes with the cameras, it's oversized, tinted plastic. I don't need it, as with a CF in each camera there are two empty cases (the smaller ones like Sandisk). Pull out the two CF braces inside the case closest to the latch. I used a Dremmel tool to smooth the burs off what remained, nice and smooth. The case then can be used to hold and protect the remote control (see below)...

The CF case can still be used for its original intent, as the two remaining tabs (which also serve to brace the remote) will hold the CF in place by friction even though the front two are missing.

That will be $3.99. Just mail it, thanks in advance. Don F.

A-Eighty: It's a really neat camera, even if it's not black.

Gee-Five: What a fine camera, too, with some great features -- and it's black!
(There! Now I can't be accused of harming newbie camera searches).

possible accidental button-pressing when transported in a tight camera bag or when it gets jostled in carring. Also protects it from scratches and general wear. Don F. Still waiting for that $3.99. 8-)

some others can benefit from this. Someone's got to have suggested it last year or something, I can't be the first. It fits perfectly, and the lid closes nicely. The obvious benefit is that it keeps the little remote clean and the buttons from being pressed accidentally, if it's in a carry-bag. Don F.
The check is in the mail.

Really a good idea

The Canon Pro1 have the same remote and the same case :)

After I finish this message I will cut my case to insert the remote

Thanks
Done hehehehe ;-)

That is a great storage case for your G3 and G5 remotes... didn't know they were that small.... besides the check in the mail (not) you are recycling cases that might have been tossed aside.

Cool!

I have eight subperb quality, all metal cases given to me by AOL, with their CD inside.

Kids krack the CD's right away, but I am still waiting for ideas, how to use the cases.

remarks, Sueanne I hardly throw anything away, a fault of mine. In spite of that, things are pretty neat -- just...full. No, I knew this case would come in handy for something, just couldn't put my finger on it right away.

Karen - I am taking it slow on accessories, right now am using a general fannypack / dual purpose bag from Target that I got two years ago, works great for now, and also holds the A80 in its Tamrac case. This bag has a shoulder strap, so it sort of looks like a camera bag - sort of. Anyway, it's fine for now. Have not ordered the lensmate or Bower adapter yet, can't decide which to order, the Bower is almost half the price of the Lensmate, with shipping. BTW am sold on the G5, just love it. Don F.
i love it! btw, is the remote battery IN the remote? cause i
don't seem to have a separate one.

did you get a G case yet..if so - what?

It is one of those "button" batteries. You didn't get one? It is between the size of a nickel and a quarter I think. It is hard to install, as it's not real clear which side of the holder is up and which is down, when you take it out, pay attention to the orientation of the battery holder. The batt itself has one side marked for polarity, it's the insert that is not so intuitive.

don't have a Dremmel tool to smooth the burs left by the little CF bracckets? The Dremmel made it go real fast, but it's kind of an awkward angle to be filing it out with a nail file. I suppose a nub-ended metal rod of some sort (i.e. a solder iron), heated, could melt it down after the tabs are cut out, if done carefully and quickly.
Nice one Don, ive just hacked at my card case :), im amazed no one
thought of it before.

injection mold, pre-owned, $76,500. A minimum order of polypropelene vinyl (300 lbs, $480). A tech-trade school course to make it all work. A private contractor engineer/draftsman to design the thing.. That comes to . . .
could you make me one for my TV remote?

To aar -- I have some of those same AOL cases, I am also trying to come up with a good use for them. One of these days. We mailed a couple CDs in one of them. Don F.
Well Done!
