The central Texas whipsnake. Long, skinny, and lightning fast.
Photographing one of these beauties is a real challenge.

Photographed in southern Terrell county Texas, approximately
3 miles north as the crow flies of ole Mexico.

This is a one to one pixel crop, which makes it seem closer than
I really was.

Brings to mind that snake in the Jungle Book movie with the mesmerizing eyes. Way cool shot!

My favorite movie as a youngster growing up, by far :)

Now that you mention it, I agree wholeheartedly! Thank you Leah.

Are you trying to give me nightmares?!!!!

That is incredible, Joe. And hearing what a challenge these things are, I am just in total awe.

If I recall you live pretty close to me.
If you ever want to get out of the house
(our schedules permitting) I'm up for it.

Joe
Sounds good to me and after I get the OM-E1 adapter we can play optical plumber with some 20th Century glass. BTW I'm in the 281/1604 area.

... and I mean that in the best possible way, you really have a way with these things. It's like mark with his birds, and Terry with his GBHs. You seem to pull it all together when it comes to snakes. What a great capture! Thanks for sharing it. BTW, I had a good laugh at T. Dum's statement too! And I really loved my Mother in Law!

Hi Joseph,

really nice catch, I'd like to read your message just partly, taking away a few words, like :
The central Texas whipsnake. Long, skinny, and lightning fast.
Photographing one of these beauties . . . in southern Terrell county
Texas, approximately 3 miles . . . close . . . I really was.
Because that's probably the distance I'd like to stay away of these creatures (if they are not behind glass). I am just still searching for the right glass and tripod to allow such distance picture, even with a strong crop :-)

regards,

Ruud
