Had my 2040 for a week now and still trying to figure out all the bells and whistles, my 450 didn't have. Indoor shots seem to have a pinkish tint to them. Been using the P mode with and with out flash. How do you avoid this? Thanks in advance. paddy

Paddy,

Try setting your WB setting according to your lighting situation if AUTO isnt doing it for you. You should get better results.

Lighting is a very difficult subject to deal with in photography. A digicam sometimes can't determine what is is, as the complex signatures it recieves from various lighting conditions is more than the computer can handle, so it guesses. If your results are consistantly pink, then the imagingi is called "warm" . You need a "cooling" or blue filter to make things right. You really should visit the Kodak web site and find if there is a page that illustrates your tint condition, that will give the color temperature of the lighting. Once that temp is known, one can select the proper cooling filter to make your image the equivalent of sunlight (the only natural light). The 80A or 82A blue filters comes to mind. These filters normally don't come smaller than 49mm, so a step-up ring would be necessary. This is no reflection on the Olympus digicam (really a computer in drag), as the lighting thing has been a problem with film camera's also (the reason so many different filters exist out there). The easy solution after all this geek-speak is to use Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro to remove the pink tint. Whew!

Ciao.....

In the there is white balance tweaker that will make the corection. Locaton is the same as the and sliders.

The mode is the "worst" mode to use for quality photos IMO. You have relagated your artistry to a computer, and what does a computer know about art? You basically get a result based on systematic processing to give an oucome of what "humans" find pleasing. Somehow, this seems like "fast food" photography to me :-))
