>>> Challenge 12: Light - Voting Thread <<<

I hope to be sound asleep when the voting booth closes (2am in Sweden). At that time you can see for yourself who has won the Eligible category so please feel free to start up the next challenge any time after that. I'll make the final adjustments and cleanup of the Challenge 12 galleries once I get up tomorrow morning.

Let me extend my best wishes to the lucky winner / next host! :-)

Despite Blulegend's help I have been unable to submit my votes in exhibition. He fixed the problem for eligible but not exhibition. How may I vote for exhibition? Just skip it or what?

Do you know if he intends to work more on the problem now? Otherwise maybe we'll just have to leave it as it is and hope he sorts everything out in time for an eventual next round. I suggest the results should stand even if some have not been able to vote though, especially for Exhibition which isn't that critical IMHO.

A poll: Are there more people who have not been able to vote?

I have no idea if he is working more on it. I hope he is though. He has been doing his best so far, but no luck. Perhaps I'm the only one who can't vote, but I don't agree that the votes should stand without all votes from those who want to vote.

that the person who wins the Eligible challenge will consider the subject "Wolverines" in the next challenge

Then I suggest we ask Jack to manually add the votes that are missing. We can't re-start the voting at this time as I see it.

If you see someone with a 100-400 standing next to you at Skansen Zoo it's probably me! :-)

I agree with you there. It looks like I'm the only one so far. Sigh ....

Fret, I saw you 3 weekends in a row there and will you kindly not stand in my favorite spot next time and spoil my shot :-)

Patt,

Have you adjusted any of the IE security settings or have a firewall? Does your browser accept cookies? Or do you have a personal firewall set up or use Proxomitron?

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember you voted on the CTF challenge?

I like it. But is seem a little impersonal... I do like the ability to have comments (which the does) but also the ability to follow up when makes a comment. I also think there are more comments with the old method.

my 2 cents

Yes, I have voted several times on the CTF challenge.

No IE security settings have been adjusted
Yes, behind a standard lynksys router (remember I have vote before)

No personal firewall
No Prozomitron or Prozac - but soon though if I CAN'T VOTE! lol

I don't see where anyone would be more or less likely to use only thumbnails either way.

If anything, I think the booth makes it easier to go to the big picture. The booth simplifies and saves so much time that actually, I think people can put that extra time savings into looking at all the shots in full size.

And, as for thumbnails, no, you cannot judge a shot by its thumb.

Lonnit
Now that we are using the booth (the Jury is still out on this, I
know, though I'm aware it makes the job a lot easier for the host)
is everyone still fully reviewing the galleries before voting, or
are you using only the booth thumbnails?

I only ask because there are some images (one of which may, or may
not be one of mine!) that look so different at fullsize to the
thumnail - hidden depths or features that may turn an apparently
ordinary image into a really quite striking one.

It's very difficult when there are so many images to review, but
I'm concerned that some images may be being unfairly overlooked
because they're not being fully viewed.

Any comments?

Phil

Hi Patt,

I thought you had voted successfully on CTF :-)

Just trying to figure out if anything had changed on your end which would help explain why you haven't been able to vote on CSLR. No new Windows patches, IE patches, virus scan upgrade?

If you can find the cookie for CSLR (www.liteserv.com), try deleting it and see if you can vote.

Or if all else fails blame Mercury retrograde (effects electronics). Haven't been able to figure out any other reason - maybe there's actually something to astrology? ;-)

My browser is collecting cookies, but I could find cookies for either CTF -where I have voted successfully or CSLT. I did find cached pages for both though. I just tried to vote again and got the error. So I'm gonna place my votes and their weights here so if Jack for Andre want to place them for me they can.
