Do you have this experience? You're looking at the photos taken by family and friends and you just can't stop your mind from thinking of all the things you would like to do to make that photo better, not to mention the bad photography. I'm getting the impression that my brother may be getting uncomfortable showing photos to the family (on laptop) in my presence. 'Mark, could you leave the room. I'm going to show some of the photos from our recent trip'. ahh... I just can't help it....'if only you used a touch of levels'...'maybe a bit of hue/saturation adjustment'. Hopefully I'll get over this phase and appreciate images for what they are. But maybe not. :-)

After hanging out at the Sony Forum I now see Purple Fringing everywhere....and I'm not even looking at pictures. I swear 20% of car lights have purple fringing when I'm driving at night. I see it on almost every TV show...People ask me what it is and I refuse to point it out to them because I don't want them becoming neurotic too...lol.

Oh I'm so glad I'm not alone, I was afraid to tell anyone about all these strange feelings, didn't want to get sent to the nuthouse! Photography can and does totally consume your whole life. I always say I now look at everything as a rectangle, a picture. I can look at a boring leaf and think what I beautiful picture that would make!

Great thread Mark!!!

if i may wax serious for a moment, i think it's a common human characteristic to change your whole orientation and perspective when you become deeply immersed in learning something new for a while.

i remember in medical school when learning about the cardiovascular system, when i would drive anywhere i pictured the streets as arteries of different sizes, sidewalks as capillaries, trucks as redblood cells carrying nourishment and other life-sustaining sources to their targets, police cars as white blood cells, the wires above the street as the neurological pathways, etc.
dont ask how i saw the streets when we were learning the digestive system...

Mark,

Know EXACTLY what you mean. Try officiating Basketball. I have done that for 23 years, and it is almost impossible for me to just WATCH a game. I find myself officiating it through a television. Really tics my wife off big time. (Ahh, hush up Ingrid...lol)

To think I almost missed this opportunity! So you admit to ticking your wife off, takes a big man to do that:). But probably takes a bigger woman to put up with you! LOL (And to your wife my apologies, I wasn't talking physically big of course). Poor woman probably deserves a medal:).

I guess it's the same principal whether we're officiating Basketball, editing a photo, ad infinitum...

A little science fiction here. Imagine if they developed the technology that you could actually do that (at least as seen through one's own eyes). In a way it already happens when you get to middle age and you need reading glasses. Automatic gaussian blur filter. Many times I 've been surprised at the amount of wrinkles (including my own face) that i see when I look at someone with my reading glasses. I try not to do it.

I was waiting for a walk light the other day and happened to look
at the person beside me. I started thinking about how I could
correct the blemishes on her face!

... sigh ...

I realised I had spent too much time in colour printing labs, when driving home one evening, I thought the trees were a little too green, and perhaps a touch of magenta might be in order,,,,,,,

I'm ok now though.

Gee I like her already and have never met her! Diamonds make us feel rich and classy, whether we are or not:). They're supposed to be our best friend but I can honestly say hubby is mine (even with his old fashioned email ideas!).
