Y2K fireworks shots with S10

Hi!

Wow ! That are awesome pix !!!!
What settings did you used?
I secured a tripod to the ground and put the S10 in slowshutter mode

I could done lot's of more photos, if I had more storage then the std. 8mb cf card (like ibm microdrive 340mb )
:( :(... well until 31-12-2000 :)

I'm really amazed about how the S10 handles nightshots, better then the Sony Mavica fd83 which I owned before the S10..

Those are nice! I'm wondering how the nightscene mode would have worked compared to the slow shutter?

Well, they were taken in Hasselt-Belgium during the yearly fireworks in september.

I used my tripod a had set the Pro 70 in Manual mode - burst. In this mode, the Pro 70 takes 4 photos/second with a maximum of 20. So each time I pressed the shutter button, I had taken 20 photos.

The part of the sky where the fireworks would appear was predictable, so I pointed it to there and used the 70mm zoom.
The rest was 'luck'.

One more thing: I had to "underexpose" the Pro 70 as far as it goes - otherwise the sky would have been much to clear.

One of the Pro 70 fine qualities is its low-light capability. For instance, today I took a photo of the christmastree at my brothers, and I alsoo had to underexpose the Pro 70 to the max (-2) to obtain a realy 'christmaslike' tree with no other disturbing environmental lights.

Greetings

Jaja

Mayby some one can tell me what the difference is between the slowshutter and the nighscene mode on the S10 ?

They have both a 2sec shutter time !?
