On another thread someone mentiond the older 70-210 would not work on the Digital Rebel. I thought as long as it said EF on the lens it would. Anyone? In the same thread one person recommened I try to find that one on EBay. But they are going for too much. The last one I saw was $345.00.

If by the 'older' 70 to 210, you mean the F4 with push-pull zoom, then it does work with the Rebel - I have one and it works fine. In fact it's a great lens. $345 is an awful lot for it.

Yes - all EF lenses should work just fine on the 300d / Rebel.

I bought the 70-210 f3.5/4.5 on ebay for about £100 sterling & have been very pleased with it. IMHO it's a far better lens than the 70-300.

Keep looking!

That's the one. What would a fair price be? When did they stop making them and why?
So as long as the lens, any Canon lens, says EF, it will work then?

Yes, any Canon EF lens will work. Some older Sigmas with EOS mount do not work.

At least, the Canon EF one does

The f3.5-4.5 version is better than the f4, but both work

The post may have referred to a third party lens?

As for prices, the 3.5-4.5 are not as common as the f4 (probably because folks that have them keep them), but you should get one for much less than $200

Needs to be rechipped. Got mine on eBay and rechipped it. Took 12 weeks to get my lens back. Worth the wait IMO.

Sorry, i meant to say Canon. The older Canon 70-210 is what I was looking for. But... I thought it would go for like $70. and it went for $340.

There must be some confusion - $340 for a Canon 70-210 F4 or 70-210 f3.5-4.5 USM is WAY too high. I paid $81 on eBay a few weeks ago for a Canon EF 70-210 f3.5-4.5 USM. Post a link to the completed auction so we can take a look.

I like my 70-210 USM, it has quickly become one of my favorite lenses. It isn't an L-lense, but for the money it is very nice - quick AF, good color & contrast. I find I am using it instead of my EF 70-300 III unless I really need 300mm.

$50 and they also threw-in an EF 35-70 & a bag.

I don't think I was looking for this lens on the 28th. I hadn't heard so many good things about it till a few days ago on another thread. I can't believe only $50. I look 10 to 20 times a day to see if there are new ads posted.
