Aww shucks

Interesting, Melanie. I thought you liked the Rebel. I had considered getting one. Glad to see this post so I won't make that mistake.

Hi Juli,

Don't get me wrong. I did like the Rebel. It just didn't fill all of my needs for a camera. I may have another assignment for the magazine, and I didn't want to use the Rebel again in this circumstance. Better the 10D.

Well, the 10D is via credit ( the MK II is paid for ). However, I look at it this way. I had a 10D for 11 months, shot a little over 10,000 on it, sold it and got another. The diff between the selling price and the price of a new one, one with a new shutter mechanism, is a pretty good deal on "leasing" a 10D for almost 1 year.
It won't take me long to pay it off.
I have had the same car since 1996 and the same house for 6 years. LOL
Yeah, yeah, I'm a flake.
:-)
A flake with (a) a significant stash of disposable income, and (b)
a talent for photography. Do you do this with automobiles and
houses, too?

Glad your still here and impressing me (at least). You are one of many here who keep pushing me to the DSLR's, but my first attempt went south. I'm regrouping and rethinking it. I for one look forward to more insightful images from you, and look forward to your future love affair with the MkII.

down on the farm, once they have seen Paree??!!" LOL :)))

thanks for reaffirming my plan to keep the 10d as a 2nd cam and get the 1dmk2. i'm looking forward to your real world experiences with the new one to seal the deal for me.

Melanie,

Always great to hear from you. More pro magazine work has been showing up here from 10D shooters thanks for raising the bar for us. The MKII sure is a quick camera and now that you know the 300D limitations it's proof that the MKII will really be a nice fit for you. I am hoping that when it comes out there will be lots of used 1D cameras going cheap. It would be a nice graduation present for my son. Take care, Tom
I suppose a few of you remember me, and that I sild my 10D to help
fund my yet to be delivered MK II.
I found it hard to live with no DSLR, so picked up a nice little
300D to be a back up.
It was a fun little camera, but the lack of a couple things (
speed, for one ) left me a little cold. Took it back for a full
refund.
Here's my obligatory cat photo, I'm back with a new 10D.

Very nice pic. Also, I love the gallery at your website.
Can you talk a little bit about the set up to take this cat picture.
Lighting, camera settings, lens, tripod.... Thanks! Michael

Every so often, I like to stick my head out the window, look up, and smile for a satellite picture. --- I got a new shadow. I had to get rid of the other one . . . It wasn't doing what I was doing. (S. Wright)

LOL! That's a lot of foot work to get to the exact same spot you started from!
Good decision though, you need 2 bodies to accept serious assignments.
I'm keeping my 10D as well.

Good, bad and mostly glad!

isn't it interesting how the equipment specs suddenly tighten up when you start taking assignments? On the bright side though, it makes it much easier to justify the extra $$!

Good Luck Randy (a clandestine fan ;> )
