She definitely has a warm and beautiful smile and your portrait really draws that out. Really well done.

to sit down long enough to do that sketch but let me have a little time and I will post that. For now,

I used 3 lights. One in softbox to my left at almost 90 degrees to camera. One softbox just to my right close to camera. The hairlight was far behind the model in a refector. I will be changing the hairlight arrangement soon as I bought a boom yesterday to hang a hairlight above the subject.

As the subject's face is quite broad, I tried to shorten the light on the right by having higher ratios.

Final touch was to vignette and darken around the face in PS.

Hopes this helps.

Thanks Henry. Well, I will post some pictures when I get my camera - perhaps in another month or two. Right now I'm just learning. I've seen some of the work you've posted and all I can say is, if I can do with a camera the fraction of the skill that you show, I'd be very happy. You have wonderful photos.

poorly.

There's a saying in this part of the world that goes like:
choose the barber with the worst haircut if you want one to cut
your hair.

That's me, I guess.
We have the same saying, but when you get your picture taken, you don't have to wait 3 weeks for your hair to grow back....;-)

Now quit making excuses and give use a shot. Heck, I'll start off. If I'm not afraid to show this one, you can't deny us.

has a very nice smile. Honestly, I thought it was her natural skin tone / color, it did not seem warm till I read your description.

BTW, did you give her camera back to her?

Frank

Just saw your gulls - and replied to the other thread.

Here is a photo of me and my wife taken yesterday - there was a traditional function to mark the 11th birth day of my daughter - hence the traditional dress and all.
