I'm really liking these collages. They are sure sellers with parents. Any comments on improvement?

They are awesome! Excellent shots to begin with, and wonderful as a collage. I'll bet they command top dollar.

Actually, I did these for friends from my Church. I have separate rates for my Church family as I don't want to profit from them. I get paid back in goodwill and referals. I only get $18 for 11x14's like the above collages. $50 otherwise, which is VERY low as well.

I'll say. Equipment and talent aside, there's a lot of work and time in making pictures like these. They're a bargain at $50.

Is there anyone, the original poster or someone else, who could give me an idea how to go about doing something like this please?

This is my second post because I lost my 17 yr old niece in a car accident on Jun 26. It was my brothers only child and I have been really distraught so haven't really felt much like posting.

I did want to know what steps you took to make the square frames that you put on the collage if you don't mind. I loved the first one you posted a few months back.

Thanks,

Melissa

First and foremost, wonderful collages!

I have two comments regarding the top collage.

One, note the Escher-esque "behind something that's behind something else that's in front of it all" relationship between the middle left inset picture. (Inset behind handle which is behind towel which is in front of inset.) This is a nice effect if it is intentional.

Two, and this is an extreme nitpick, I'd like to see some variation in the setting of the insets, like you have in the bottom collage. This might require extra masking work but maybe you could vary the elements not involved in the masking requirement

Again, these are very nice collages.

at least if you ask graphic design professionals rather than Webster (who, I might venture to assert, knew little to nothing about graphic design!)...

symmetrical = identical on both sides

balanced = visually weighted equally on both sides (NOT the same as being precisely identical)

feivel is correct :)
"Beauty as a result of balance or harmonious arrangement."
no question it is assymetrical
but it IS perfectly balanced composition wise
