I just visited the extremely busy D70 forum.

There are some TRUELY ignorant people posting a multitude of questions.

One guy basically asked with shutter and aperture do. Another posted, ohhh, just get an initial setting from program mode, that's the answer.

I spent a few minutes answering some basic questions.. basic even for a 101 level entry college course that was based on 1970's technology.

I would suggest if people here have time, even if it's painful... stop by the D70 forum, and try and help a bit to prevent the flood of mis-information that appears to be growing like a creature from a sci-fi movie over there.

Of course the moire posts abound, and page five has posts less than four hours old, so the number of messages is daunting...

Only the brave and stout of heart should venture over there. It's daunting to say the least.

I for one can't wait for my D2H to come back so I can hang out over here more ;-).

I just took a quick run through the D70 forum and there are alot of new, first time photographers over there. Personally, I've benefitted from many different posts on this site and it certainly wouldn't hurt to once in awhile take a peek over there to answer a question or two. We all had to start from scratch at one time in our lives.

That's a good sugguestion.... Forgot there was even a D70 forum. Looked at it and looks similar to the 300D forum. Way too many questions and people don't read each other's posts before making a new thread.

I was initially against the split, but now I see its for the better.

I hope that we all try to do our best. Remember that these are our "family members" too. The better pics they make, the better it looks for us fellow Nikonians :)

Such a small issue, such a large fuss? Funny, huh? I think if that is the largest complaint, the D70 must be a good camera indeed.

I need to give back to the forums. I have learned SO much in the last 18 months. The folks here are great...

Around the time when I got my D100, there were rumblings of splitting the forum then. I would have been bummed since I would have not gotten the exposure you all the talented folks who shoot something other than the D100.

...off to D70 land 8^)

Can't believe the number of people pointing the cameras at the sun and wonder why the CCD blooms! Good grief.

That Aperature/Shutter guy probably just "upgraded" from a D100.

Isn't it obvious, they will upgrade. I hear Nikon is comming out with the D70-R. The only differance is the the body is painted red. But according to a guy over there the pictures do seem sharper.

It seems that in addition to their lack photography knowledge, they lack some etiquette. I have replyed to several posts without response!!

Tell them unless they have over $15,000 invested in camera equipment they will never be real photographers.

was my good deed for the day but explained why an auto WB shot on a cloudy day has a boosted red channel on a grey card sample :)

Does appear that Nikon put quite a weak aa filter on. Theres some info up on their page about this now too. The blooming under some circumstances seems to be more of a worry though - but less oft encountered. I guess we're still some time away from a no-compromise camera.
