I've seen a nearly identical shot (crop of guy wearing suit with dress shirt) with similarly bad moire on the 1D. This kind of subject matter is just not generally good for bayer pattern sensors.

I totally agree with you. But this also implies that we can't be sure whether or not that is really moiré. Because anybody who'd wear a tie like that would probably also buy a shirt with this funky pattern...

I'm not dead certain, but I think you'll find the shirt is on a plastic model in a store display. I want to know what store could possibly match that shirt with that tie....my business will rush quickly in the other direction
