I have a brand new Canon.

It has a load of hot pixels.

At ISO 1600 25 sec it looks like someone went to town making dots all over the image.

1 confirmed dead pixel.

I dont know if this is a limitation of DSLR in general, or my Canon.

Here is the Image that i'm mad about.

ISO 1600
25 SEC exposure

Lens cap on
Eyepiece covered

I would GREATLY GREATLY appreciate if someone would replicate these conditions with a Nikon D70 and post the result.

you should not be using this ISO at this length of exposure with ANY dslr be it canon or nikon , lower your ISO and increase the exposure length proportionally

Weird Settings, but here ya go...with and without NR...saw some upper LHS ligtening in the NR: off image, but that may have been imperfect viewfinder sealing. These are 100% crops from the center vicinity. HTH.

Definately much better than my Canon... thanks.

2k3taco, Stan. Good evening.

I have yet to learn how to post image on this forum but I did severals tests on my D70 at 1600 iso (lens cap on). Even enlarge at 400 %, I can't find noticeable noise in them.

The only "Problem" I have found with this camera so far is the apparent softness with the pictures. Nothing new for the readers of this forum I am sure but a bit annoying for me nonetheless.

Other than that, a great camera.
Just my 2 cents

...looks like we're at different gammas. NR: on seems to help the long exposures. I think if you turn it on it kicks in at about 1 second or longer. It uses the take a second frame and subtract method.
