What is your highest count with a single Rebel/300D ?
Any Error/Replacement experiences during this period ?

Yes I'm a lightweight. (Too much time spent at work. I usually can manage 3000 a year if the past is any indicator.) No shutter issues or failures of any kind yet that can't be explained by something else. So far so good!

I'm sure I'll be beaten but that will get the ball rolling.

I am not sure how many shots in total as I had continuous autonumbering off in the menu. Although I am pretty sure I have shot way more than 30 000 photos (probably over 40 000) with the 300D and so far I have not had a single error message (nor have I had to clean the sensor etc....).

This is from one of the very first Rebels to reach Canada as I bought it on the first day it was released.

Am I worried about the shutter failing eventually? Not really but I do hope that if it does fail that it is before the 1 year warranty had expired. Which is why I will continue to use it as much as I have been using it. I know for a fact I will be way over the 50000 click mark way before the 1st year is up.

Reasons for high usage if anyone is wondering:

1. Family with 3 young daughters that I want to capture on photos.... I take tons of shots of my kids although I may only keep a few (you know the old adage to shooting rolls of film for a few keepers).
2. Florida vaction..... 10 days with more than a 1000 photos
3. Hockey tournaments (I have done two with more a couple thousand photos).

4. College where I work has me doing staff / student photos (close to a 1000 photos at least).
5. Bed and Breakfast house advertising.....1000 plus photos at least
6. Experimentation...... thousands upon thousands.

I am one of those people who never goes anywhere without my camera and I will photograph almost everything and anything. A lot of these shots I do not keep as they are for learning experiences and experimentation of light. I have probably deleted just as many photos that I have taken which makes me believe that I may be over the 50 000 clicks by now.

The great thing about digital is the ability to take photos all the time without the worry of film cost. And as such I have used the 300D as such a tool in my growth of learning this art. I hope the 300D is up to the task as well.

My first camera went over 20,000 before the shutter failed. My second didn't last 2 weeks before getting Err99's due to shutter failure and the third Rebel is doing fine so far but it has only been 36 hours.

2 different shutter failures... Thats scary!
Yes it is. It was thid time that my friendly BestBuy customer rep informed me that my 4 year protection plan will only replace the camera one time after the 12 month manufacturer's warranty. So if I get the error again at 13 months, I get a new camera and no more warranty. I guess if they really give me a new camera I get another warranty with it. My plan, in the case of yet another failure, is to get an upgraded 10D. We'll see how that goes...

I will gather statistics and share with you if I can have enough replies. More attendants will be appreciated.
