Has my D70 been delivered with wrong Windows driver?

I installed Picture Project as the instructions said. Install program told me it was installing D1 Series drivers. When I connected my D70, Windows 2000 said new device found and asked me to select a driver (this was not in Nikons instructions). The only alternative was to select the D1 driver. I looked on the CD but there was no D70 driver. There doesn't appear to be one on Nikons Web site either. The Picture Project Software does not open automatically when I connect my D70 with the D1 driver and it shows Not Connected.

Is this the correct driver? If not has anybody else had this problem?
Thanks!

What you describe is correct as far as the install goes (you have the right driver).

I had the same problem, then I realized that the USB setting was not set to "mass storage" in the camera.

After that, everything worked as expected.

Thank you. Although your answer is completely irrelevant, it did
have the effect of pushing my subject back up the thread list where
hopefully someone can actually help me.

Need to change the camreas usb setting to mass storage

menu yellow icon

go down to usb

choose Mass storage

be sure to unplug the camera from windows before doing this

then replug it back in afterwards

windows 2000 should dtect mass storage device and you should have a new drive letter .

the ptp mode works in windows xp and im assuming mac osx

im not sure what advantage ptp has but im assuming you can look at the images while you shoot them form a ptp capable os.

i havent tried it though so i dont know.

But it's not hard to fix...
