Canon just told me March 26 ship date from---> Japan.

Question...

Do they ship Air or slow boat to the USA?

I will bring my laptop to the camera store to test image quality before I buy it.

Air freight, they would never ship these in sea containers!!! Not the first shipments.

What do you care? Didn't think you liked this camera!

and will the dealer let you open the software package if you're not buying. Hopefully, Canon will have DPP download ready before your camera arrives. I hope the DPP screen is sharp (not soft)enough for you to read.

I would expect the MK II's to hit the FedEx trucks to homes nationwide around April 12, which is a Monday, and all through that week. I would assume Canon Japan ships priority air for these kinds of in-demand products.

There's always a learning curve with all cameras....I've been a little disappointed in every digicam I've bought over the years when I first got them. You have to learn the finer points of each camera.

Don't be surprised if you don't like your first pics.

There are posts from senior Canon Folks on RobG's site (Chuck Westfall) who state otherwise. Shipping starts towards the end of april

A few days..to a week at most..They will send them out by plane-- then to the distribution centers and then the dealers. Dont forget it is already a day ahead in Japan... so they should have gone out today if he was correct

Well, then Canon is telling a few stores wrong shipment dates, unless the stores are lying to me, but I don't see why it would be in their interest to do so. I won't say who I talked to, but I was told early April. I guess we'll just have to see what happens.

Of course, if you ordered from Adorama or B&H, it probably will be late April because of all of their holidays.

Shipping by boat or plane, - are you crazy, - we talking about 4,5K USD per unit. Canon wants their money. First shipment should consist of app 8 to 10k units (at least it is 4000 unit for EU, according to my info).

That means app 45 mill USD in cash-flow. Believe me Canon are not sitting on their hands and they are not shipping by boat.
They should hit the streets in EU (Denmark) in week 16.

I do hope I will get one in week 16, but I am no 21 on list so chances are slim.

In the UK and across Europe, there has been a complete ban on stocking until the 20th April for selling first date 21st April...

Thats from Canon Representatives recently showing the 1Dmk2.

Wonderful.....that is my 50th birthday! Funny thing, my wife does not even know she is giving me a MkII yet!

PS: This is also Queen Elizabeth's actual real legal birthday as well. They will troop the colors for her on June 12th, however. The weather is usually a bit better.
