If I burn a CD on my PC, would a MAC user be able to open it? I gave a friend a CD I burned and they can't get it open, they are not too computer savvy and I am wondering if they are trying to open it on a MAC.

CD's and DVD's are cross platform, any computer should open one made on any other system.

CDs written on a PC should usually be readable on a Mac since CDs are commonly written in ISO9660 format on PCs which is readable by Macs. Of course, only data files, not executables, would be useful due to differing hardware and operating systems. CDs written on a Mac are commonly in HFS or HFS+ format which is not readable on a PC without special software. There is software available on both platforms to write hybrid CDs. I believe DVDs are written in UDF format which is cross-platform. What kind of files are you writing to CD on your PC and what software are you using to do it?

... it all depends on what Mac OS they have. If they have a really old one, they might have problems and your best bet would be to burn in ISO 9600.

Mac's usually can read any disk from a PC as long as it's formatted in FAT, the same goes for CD's and DVD's. But for some older Mac's you have to burn CD's in special formats for them to be able to read it. So to be sure it'll work, go with the ISO format.

Not specific enough. Just how are you doing this on your windows system? Are you using Easy CD Creator? Are you creating a packet written CD?

If your using one of the packet writing software packages, you will NOT be able to read it on a Mac unless you "finalize" the disk when it is ejected. It's a shame, but Apple really doesn't see the benifit of packet writing CDs.

My problem is the same in reverse. My kids have pc's and when I burn a photo CD they can only open one film at a time or not at all. What can I send them or use myself that will allow them to open the entire album much as like in iPhoto.
