A80 Photo Thread...

Forgive and forget... I accept your apology Racer. I also understand where you were coming from. This thread was simply a "Oh my god I'm so excited I just got my new digicam, lets take a bunch of pictures" not a "check out my elite picture taking abilities!" thread... although, that is where I would like to see my threads progress in the future.;-)

Remember folks, it takes a real man to own up to something and apologize. I truelly admire a man like that.

That being said, get your ass out there and take some pictures with your new A80 without delay Racer!!! Trust me, get one. I am still in the upswing of the learning curve, but I can already tell I love the A80.

Cheers

You said before that posting pictures leaves you open to criticism.
True. But opening your mouth also lets the world know you're an
ass. I'd rather be known for being a poor photographer than a jerk.
Well thanks for being so understanding.

Matt,

I appreciate your understanding an apoligize if I took your thread in a direction that it really didn't need to go.

I'm still trying to decide if the A80 is the camera for me. But I'm totally happy with my 10D right now, just need something for the wife and "fun shots." I'm heavily leaning toward the A80, but the G5 and S1 IS are still in the running. I want something that my wife can feel comfortable with and that I woln't be disappointed wishing I'd brought my 10D

Got it on Monday (after having waited for 4 months, frustrating story), and have been shooting stupid stuff like crazy to get to know it a little bit. Shot this pic today, my first actual attempt of producting a nice picture.

Comments anyone?

(PS: I'm pretty new to posting pictures, if I did something wrong, tell me please)

I hope I didn't come across as "understanding" as this person. I think you handled the situation very well...

1/320 sec, F5, ISO 50, handheld, Large -> Superfine mode two shots stitched together. Note to others, always be sure to delete the previous post pictures from this section so they don't clog up the subsequent posts. i.e., post only your own shot, not those of the others. D

A80: It's a neat camera, even if it's not black.

To Chuck,

Hey. Noticed that u got the tiffen .56x with the 37 mm adapter from lensmate. Did u use it for the barn shot? Would really like to know what u think about the lensmate and the tiffen. Thought long and hard before I decided to order the 37 mm adapter and the telephoto as well as the WA lens. It'll arrive in a few days.
Round barn in Central PA. Just some resizing, sharpening and color
enhancing in PS.

Didn't use the Tiffen .56 for this shot. I really like it. It's sharp and really wide but it is BIG. 72mm front threads. A regular filter won't work on it it vignettes. I have yet to try one of the thin filters.

Thanks for the insights chuck. Its quite hard to find comments regarding the performance of the tiffen lenses from lensmate. Took the plunge and ordered anyway. Ur comments gives me enough of an indication that I made the right choice. Will try my lenses as soon as i get them and share with u my insights on the telephote lens. Advanced apologies for the lack of skill though. Newbie here.

That's pretty impressive. I like taking no-flash shots too. I've become pretty good myself with the steady hand to prevent blurry shots, however its VERY tricky when taking pictures of people because they move too! Sometimes a bit of luck involved I guess.

The A80 with its fair sized sensor (bigger than A70) does pretty good at higher ISOs. At ISO400 however I prefer to apply NeatImage to clean it up a bit (if i'm going to print)
iso 200; 1/20s shutter; F/2.8, handheld (resized 800x600)
