1 light - 1 board

Hi John,

I am in the same boat as you and I'm in the UK.

Cheers,

Chris.
Can anyone outside the U.S. view the picture? It's very odd...maybe
the hosting site has been attacked from the UK at some point and
now denies permission to UK domains? Shame 'cos I'm interested in
this nose issue now!

The nose highlite kills this photo Philip, but you know that already. Something is strange about her eyes. It almost seems like the white of her eyes is too white. Weird.
Medium SB over her head -2 stops, white board under her arms tilted
back towards her face for fill.
I'm obviously in the minority here, but I like her nose. Using an
unconventional but effective treatment shows the artist's necessary
self-confidence. Keep up the great work.

Phil,

How big of a space do you have to shoot in? I have a 15x23 room that I have to move furniture around etc. This is a hobby so far, but would like to know if you think my space is too limited.

thx

What internet browser are you guys that can not view these pictures using? (Internet Explorer / Netscape / Firefox / etc..)

If IE, you may want to go into Tools> Internet Options> Delete Files (in the Temporary Internet Files area).

Also, check to see if you have anything in the Restricted Sites area under the Security tab in Internet Options

You may also want to do a search of your hard drive for .tmp files and delete them all. Clear the C: Windows/Temp and C: Temp folders as well.

I may think of some other troubleshoots, but do those first and let me know if that helps.

Cheers

....I used to really enjoy looking at your work. For the last
couple of months though, they never display in this forum and I
can't seem to access your website either. Is access being
restricted in some way. I'd love to be able to see this pic that is
being discussed and complimented!

Any ideas?

Hmmm, Didn't realize it would embed the picture into the post. Basicly what I did was view the picture using a web based public proxy like the following: http://209.123.49.227/cgi-bin/nph-proxy.cgi/000010A/http/www.web.freerk.com/c/

After you go to the above link, just type in the link of the URL you want to view into the field at the top of the page. In this case it would be the link to the picture in this thread. Just right click the picture and the Url to the picture should be given.

No, I'm serious. You photograph some very pretty women. Are they people who come in off the street asking for their photos to be taken? Do you use a modelling agency? Do you just have a lot of very attractive friends?

I ask because I want to try some similar shots but I am too timid to approach women I dont know to ask if I can take their photo. Conversly, without samples why would anyone come and ask me themselves??

honest, I am a STUD MUFFIN ;).... Oh boy is it getting deep ;) LOL...

This girl is a Senior Rep for me in a county next to mine. I got her to come in for some promotional work for the studio. Yes, some make appoitments, some I just walk up to and ask. Here is another promo shot of her for the studio. I have no problem asking anyone that I might meet on a street or in a store, to come in. Great promotion. They get pictures, and pass them around to all their friends :)

I am impressed. Having the confidence to walk up to some girl on the street is far beyond me I think. I'd probably get a knee in the "package" anyway.

Also, are you married? Girlfriend? What does she think about all this? ;-)

Seriously Phillip I am very very impressed. You have a great talent and control over lighting. Thanks for sharing.

a wife. I don't know what she thinks about all this, cuz I never asked ;) Na, she understands and knows that this is what I want to do, after I get the ax from my current job. I've known for at least 2 to 3 years, that I would be leaving, so I started the studio as a place to go after my job fizl'd out.

I should be in the black in 2004. I planned on not making any $$ the first 2 years of the studio's existance.

pfiltz,

in the Senior Rep photos, and few others in your site, the white floor seem to be reflective, what material did you use and how did you get it to merge into the background? did u use seamless?

I'm really new, so pls be gentle with your jargons. Thanks!

My High Key [all white] shooting area is linolium painted white. I have a 6'x6' piece of plexiglass I use for reflective shots. When the b/g lights are properly setup, the back edge of the plexiglass will disappear.

This may be a silly question but heh

when pflitz says Medium SB over her head -2 stops what is he saying that he has under exposed the image by 2 stops using his camera settings if not
can somebody explain ?

Many thanks in advance

explained in more detail Steve. Since I had a Medium SB overhead on a boom, and wanted as much light to wrap and fill it was approx 1 foot from her head, I had switched the strobe to -2 stops. My power pack and heads won't let me individually control the intensity, other than this one head, hence -2 stops. The pack was set at 250 watts. Hope this answer's your question.

just started 4 yrs and you can do such a wonderful job. It would take me years to accomplish what you've done. Well, if I could reach your level!!! I'm sure you have a talent!
pflitz:

I am no expert, but the composition, posing
and lighting of your shots is amazing -
absolutely beautiful, as are your models.

Are you a long-time pro, or just a gifted
natural?

Keep em coming!
