Kyocera M410R

it is indeed an intriguing camera so far...

do you know if that ring on the lens is a zoom/focus ring or just
decoration?

Hi, not sure about the ring, I think it is there to help the look and I can not tell anything by looking at the spec. but I would like it even more if it is for the zoom, I am sure we will find out soon ( I hope ??? ). Scott.

Hopefully the availability date of Mar29 that is listed no the first webpage is accurate...can't wait for reviews (prerelease says avail end of march)

Tele @ 10 x, I wish it is equip with IS, then, it would be a killer
!!!

It would have been fantastic if it had IS but the price would have jumped up and it is not bad at the price quoted, also I have just found out that the video mode has a 720x1280 at 15fps, quite a good extra.
Scott.

On the M410R - it comes with a lens cover with a 52mm filter fitting at the end - nice. Also means the lens is left in an extended postion when powered down for faster power up response time.

yes, that's all good, but what I am asking is whether that is a zoom/focus ring or simply decoration (like the Fuji S5000). I haven't seen any pics of the back of the camera - zoom buttons would mean that that is not a zoom ring.

Yes, I too am very much interested in this camera. I still don't
see any samples yet but looks like it is now trickling into the

I think those samples don't look so bad. I especially like the one with the strawberries.

What I don't like... according to the specs on the Kyocera US site the M410R does NOT seem to have manual focus or manual exposure mode!

However, the PDF brochure on Kyocera's German site says it does have AF or manual focus as well as shutter/aperture priority modes and full manual exposure control.

Now, who's right?

Thanks for the links, RobN,

I agree that the first samples don't look bad at all. With all due caution, noise and CA look good, especially since most pictures were taken with f=2.8.

Different from other cameras' first samples, there is nothing terrible to be seen. More samples are highly welcome!

From all publications I take it that the M410R does have both manual exposure modes and manual focus.

Apart from the body colour, is there any difference between the 2
cameras?
The 400R doesnt have the extended lens tube (nor the ring on the end to attach accessories/filters). The tube lets the 410R keep its lens a little further out resulting in faster start up times. There may be a few other differences but nothing major from what I've seen on the web (still dying to see a site get a sample and review it.

I thought the sky looked a bit noisy in the first sample, however it would be great to see a reputable site test it. Looks like someone has thought carefully through the features - fast start up, minimal shutter lag, fast AF, standard filter size adapter, USB 2.0. Good selection of modes. Compact size and wonder of wonders: AA batteries!

Only weakness is no hot shoe but not a deal breaker. Thankfully no IS - another thing to complicate and go wrong.
Is it going to rain on the Olympus C 770 parade?!

Minolta 7Hi/A1/A2, Fuji S5000/S7000/S20pro, ...

I think most of the newer "prosumer style" cams should have ISO800. I've seen a pic or two shot with the A1 at ISO800 - not really usable, way too much noise. I don't think the M410R will be that much better.
Wow! Any other than non DSLR cams that do this? Wonder if it's usable?

I sure hope so.. can't wait to get my hands on one of these. Unfortunately, there still aren't any more samples or reviews in sight.
