Still Life Thread - Anyone Interested?

So beautiful. Excellent piece of art work. Should get a 16x20 print for this one.
I've always loved looking at still life paintings done my the
masters. After some help from forum members, I've spent a couple
of days chasing down sites looking at galleries. I would like to
see if some of you talented folks here would like to join in and
put together something of a still life and post on this thread.
Would love to see ideas that you come up with. I went to the
grocery today and bought veggies, flowers, baskets, bread, cheese,
grapes and had a great time trying to asseble something worth
shooting. For the most part.....after reviewing all my shots.....I
tried to cram too much stuff into the scene.......that's ok
too.....when I was so tired I couldn't shoot anymore....and the sun
went down......my wife and I ate the props ;-).

Anyway.....hope some of you would care to post......there is so
much talent on this forum. Here is one of the less clutered shots
I did today to try and kick this off:

Your post spurred my interest in art/paint/drawing actions, filters or stand alone programs. I recently went back to PSP8 & 7 and used their brush technique. I felt that it provided me with some quick and user friendly results in a short period of time. i found it easier than ms / impressionist filter and the paint engine that i donloaded earlier in the week.

You have the touch of one of the "Old Masters", I would be curious to see what you think and can come up with.

BTW did you see Trimoon's painterly effects that he posted today, fantastic!!!

Wow, great photo. I thought about posting one of mine until I saw the photo attached. I'm not even in the same sport, nevermind league.

Thank you sharing, gives me something to aspire to.

Paul

I'm so pleased that this subject generated such interest....I've really enjoyed checking in each day and seeing everone's work......great talent on this forum. Here is another one I ..... I saw this basic scene when I got up this morning.....shot with window light and reflector..... then retouched like crazy......end result is the visual feeling of what I saw.

Imagin, I just used Paint Engine's artic filter and levels.
Is a beautiful picture, congratulations.

What kind of software and settings did you use to create this one...?

Best Regards.

Marcelo.

No, Glen, I am sorry I haven't heard of the program. I am still trying to get back into things since we just returned from a long stint overseas. As soon as I am totally organized again I will look into burning a CD. Hopefully before summer.
Hi Ed

i seen your work on this site in the past, I think your work is
stunning, and i am very interested in doing this type on artwork . I
was wondering weather you have heard of a program called camtasia,
its a good program for video training. I would be interested in
buying a video cd of you to learn your skills.

Ed

I love seeing your artwork. You have such a beautiful eye and create pieces that reflect such mood.

May I suggest one thing? - would you consider creating a signature that does not scream "computer font" ? I'm afraid that it really detracts from your creations.

I am hoping that this is just the sig you use for the versions that you post here for examples but just felt that I wanted to speak up and be sure.

now back to my usual lurker corner...

..........thanks so much for taking the time to respond with such nice words about my work.......I love doing them and I have gained so much from this forum.

About the Sig............guess I never thought it was a problem......I really don't know enough about computers to do much else. The people that buy my cards don't seem to mind.....or maybe it's an issue and I just don't know about it.

Hi Ed, your work is so inspiring! I must have looked at your first image about 50 times already, it is so beautiful and interestingly arranged. Thanks for sharing!

I just tried Paint Engine for the first time tonight on an image of silk flowers, and wanted to post the image here. I did just start a new thread hoping for pointers, but thought you wouldn't mind if I posted the image here too. It kinda fills the whole frame, but the image was just taken to test a camera, didn't intend to use it for anything :-)

Thanks for looking, hope to come close to your style someday with practice.

That when you go through a long process of setting up a still life shot that you are supposed to remove the graycard after you have set the exposure... Oh well!!!
