I just came back from a trip to NZ and took many photos. I played safe and bracketed most of the landscape shots with my 1Ds...where the sky and the foreground seems to have quite extreme contrasts.

Now that I am back, I am trying to find a way to 'merge' these photos. How do I extract the sky from one and then merge with another one that I exposed for the foreground? I have read tutorial before, but can't find it... can anyone pls help? thanks.

i use Optipix http://www.reindeergraphics.com/optipix/ . It has some other functionality, and allows for 16bit manipulation.

Fred Miranda offers Dynamic Range Increase (DRI) action which makes blending extremely easy. Price is very cheap.

I don't know if you have seen the Epson Online Print Academy. I have really enjoyed it. The academy is a 12 week program that they send you a new video clip every day for 12 weeks. These video clips are downloaded on your computer for you to watch over & over. some clips deal with photography technique & some with Photoshop. The question you asked is shown to you via a video so you can actually see how to manipulate the image. It has been the best $29 i have ever spent. Hope this helps.
