hey bruce

it was st patty's day parade
cold, wet, snowy, grey, dark-ish in
the concrete canyons of manhattan
not the best element for the 828
i shot in iso 200 and got some good results
but a lot of work in post
and the images are soft - good, but still soft

i'm really happy to have both cameras now.

thanks ;)
you're gonna find more and more uses for your DR and find yourself using the good 'ol 828 less and less. its a dominoe effect and it does happen so be prepared..... :^p

on a side note

I think its pretty cool that here I just crossed the line from DSLR land to point-n-shoot land and you did just the opposite. hehehehhehe

I know you'll love your new toy and will find places to use it where the 828 won't go and vise versa I am sure. There are days I wish I'd kept my 717. Lucky for me my husband Arvin has one and I can borrow it when I have the urge. ;) I love my 10D and can hardly keep my hands off it. I bet you'll have the same love affair with your Rebel. Enjoy! Hi all,

I went with Andy to B&H where he fell victim to the dark side. Andy
said he just wanted to look, I knew better. Andy waited in line to
talk to a sales rep. Andy told the rep he was just looking, the
sale rep and I had a hard time to keep from laughing. Andy held the
toy for a few secs and his eyes got glassy and beads of sweat
started running down his face. Suddenly like magic a charge card
appeared in Andy's sweaty hand and he started buying stuff. A wino
in a bar would had lasted longer then Andy.

At Starbucks Andy played with the toy for a while. He had a real
hard time figuring out how the battery went into the camera. When I
left him he was complaining about how heavy his backpack was with
all this stuff. Welcome to DSLR land Andy.

Lots of us "dark side" junkies still hang out here. LOL Ann
catch on ;-)
Ahhhh weill. It was only a matter of time. With Andy's talent, he
will really get superb images from the DR. I just hopes he
continues to hang out around here. Remember Andy. We knew ya when
;-)

Of course, you could go with other options like the Adobe Camera
RAW option, if you don't want to spend more money. Or you could
look into http://www.breezesys.com for BreezeBrowser, which is also well
liked.

My personal recommendation is to avoid RAW almost altogether for at
least the first two to four weeks of getting to know your camera.
Some of the exposure differences you'll run into may surprise you,
and fooling with RAW during all that may well gum up the works and
frustrate you. Now is a time to just enjoy the camera. Then move on
gradually to more advanced tasks.
buy anything else....

Get Capture One LE for your raw conversions.... 15 day trial..

Congrats on the new baby!

Congrats Andy. Just curious, why did you not purchase the Nikon D70 coming out next month ? I haven't really compared them both, but I'd imagine since it's a newer model, they'll be better then the Canon 300D.

Hope you will continue posting on STF also.

It's like me almost!...On the way back from work, stopped by Comp USA, Just wanted to look at it, then..."let's me hold it and see how it feels like?...", and before I knew it...Antoine became a $1000 poorer! :-(

Welcome to the dark side Andy.
