Ohmigawd! 14 Mpx Kodak takes Canon lenses

It could be very exciting or might be overpriced and not worth it.

Spec wise, image quality should go to the new kodak, but build, AF, weather sealing etc should still go to a 1Ds.

the Kodak seems like a great studio or landscape camera though, at least on paper.

Whats really going to be the factor is cost. Is it going to be sub $5000 or $8000 for example

Price it under $5k and it really will be something to get very excited about !

assuming image quality is good, which hopefully they learned from the disapointing 14n

Kodak has just announced a 14 Mpx dSLR body that takes Canon lenses:

Where have you been, this info has been discussed all day long.
It evidently has a Sigma body, but I don't yet know what kind of
sensor, although it is full-frame 35 mm size.
Same sensor as the SLR/n. So, basically the image quality is already known. The only unknowns are the camera functions such as exposure, AF, etc.

Hi Doug,

Yes, it seems like Kodak is going to have a body with both Nikon and Canon mounts. The guys who should know in the 1D Forum seem to think it's going to pressure Canon's pricing on the 1Ds.

J,
Why don't you keep your finger off the post button for just a
minute a read up a bit on the topic. You'll find most of the
information about this camera in the applicable and somewhat
applicable forums.
I wasn't looking for information about the camera. Did it sound as if I were?

Actually, I thought the people (and other members) of this forum might be interested in an alert, since this forum pertains to Canon lenses, and this camera certainly has to do with Canon lenses.

I suppose that most of the members of this forum make an hourly scan of the Kodak SLR Talk forum just in case something comes up there about Canon lenses.

But some might not.

If you look at the price of the Kodak pro/n version it is $4995. Is there any reason to think that they will charge much more than that? That price is off B&H btw.

I'm sure it will have a lot of repercussions.

Yes, it sounded that way from "..but I don't yet know what kind of sensor." Mind you, this was in the 3rd sentence of the press release you linked in the thread you created urgently to alert everyone. I'm sorry for my response, but I've read probably a thousand of your posts here on dpreview, and I was caught off guard to see you so hyper about something to the point where you're just not yourself.

Hourly? It's been a topic in the 10d and 1d forums since the news was posted last night. I don't think you're going to see much talk of this camera on this particular forum until there is a camera to try out with these lenses. Until then I'd say the 1D, news, and Kodak SLR forum would be the best place for info.

Speaking of presure on the 1DS, I think the 1D MkII is going to be very attractive for people interested in a 1Ds. 1.3 crop isn't bad, 8MP vs 11MP isn't bad, oh and by the way it shoots 8.5 fps :)
