Get 300D now or wait??

New bodies come out regularery with more features and whatnot. Even though the D70 looks marginally better now, Canon will do better with the next release. Then Nikon will do even better with their next and so forth.. You get where I am going with this.

The main investment is not in the body, but in the lenses, the flash and all the accessories. When photography begins to develop (haha) as a serious hobby, you´ll find that your investments in lenses and accessories will be far more expensive than the body itself.

I personally like the Canon market better than the Nikon....

Consider that you'll never keep up with technology. I understand the need or desire to have state of the art, top of the line, and the latest and greatest. However, an alternative approach would be to honestly define your needs and and what you might want to do in the future, and buy a camera that will fit those needs and allow for some growth. Buy it now, use it now, and when and if you outgrow it, redefine your skill level and areas of interest, and go shopping again. You are not married to one camera for life, as nice as that might be (I still have an old Nikon S2 rangefinder that I bought in 1967, and I get it out once in awhile and take pictures the old fashioned way, and the images it produces are still satisfying). You may find it beneficial to marry a manufacturers line for lens and accessory compatibility, but the salient point is if you wait, you're not taking pictures.

April? Where did you take it from? Our dealer just reported they should have it awailable on friday, so ...

OTOH Canon will not imo lower prices, and if they would do it, I doubt their CZ office would follow them.

Maybe they could let prices be as they are and unlock the firmware options they disabled for 300D
